Case Bosch LHP / 1B / Jenison, MI / 2025

GRANDVILLE - There is no hurry to make a decision on a college home for the top-ranked uncommitted 2025 in Michigan.

“I plan on taking it slow,” Case Bosch said. “I’ve had great schools reach out but I know I can prove myself more in the spring and summer. I know there’s more I can put on the table. I’m still young, I don’t want to rush.”

It was a busy day on Aug. 1 for the Jenison High School junior, who made a nice impression playing for Team Michigan at the Future Games at the end of July.

“It was great, I was excited for it,” reflected the 6-4 200-pound left-handed pitcher, who received offers from Baylor and Michigan State the first day communication from college coaches was permitted with players in the 2025 class. “I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had eight calls that day and a couple more the rest of the week. There were some big schools like Tennessee and LSU and smaller ones like Butler and Eastern Michigan.”

A busy time has followed.

“Things are kind of slow right now, but I’ve had the opportunity to take visits in the south,” related Bosch, who has had additional offers from Toledo as well as Liberty, where his brother goes to school. “I’ve been impressed with every coach I’ve met. There are positives and negatives with everything, but the different cultures have been nice to see.

“I’m trying to gauge the colleges and see where I fit in,” added the 16-year-old, who has also had interest from Michigan. “Some I feel I can fit in and others I’m on the border. Definitely some make sense while others not quite. The calls are basic, I didn’t really know what to expect, but there are other things to consider. I know I have trouble saying no, but there are times I’m busy and can’t talk with everyone.”

While the Future Games was huge in the recruiting process, there has been additional help according to Bosch.

“I have 45-minute to an hour meetings with my travel coach Pablo Rodriguez,” Bosch explained. “His son has gone through it and he knows it like the back of his hand. He says ‘relax, don’t stress. Get different perspectives.’ ”

The idea of making baseball a long-term commitment began early for Bosch.

“Since I was six or seven I’ve known I wanted to play in the pros,” the seventh-rated 2025 in Michigan noted. “Robbie Ray (pitcher for the Mariners who previously played for the Tigers, Diamondbacks and Blue Jays and is currently out after Tommy John Surgery) goes to my church and once I knew he played baseball the light went off, I wanted to play it. It’s a dream to play on the biggest stage. MLB has always been a goal for me.”

But first the focus is on playing at the next level for the high school junior.

“Case had a strong season at Jenison which is where we got our first eyes on him after one of our scout days at Elite,” noted Adam Goodwin, PBR Michigan Director of Scouting. “His progress from spring to summer was consistent. He has a large frame that is developing and already has a good track record. He really garnered Division I attention after his outing at LakePoint.

Improvement has continued since the Future Games.

“I’ve been hitting the gym a ton right now,” Bosch said. “Pablo’s kid is my strength and conditioning coach and is doing an awesome job getting me bigger, faster, stronger. I’ve also been amping it up with my pitching coach (Mason Englert with the Tigers) the last six to eight weeks after taking a six-week break after the Futures. I’ve not gotten on the radar yet, but man it feels great.”

Once the holidays are over, Bosch expects to get right back at it.

“I don’t have any visits ahead, I’m taking the rest of the year off, but maybe I’ll go to a couple of camps in late winter,” Bosch said. “My throwing program is geared toward the PBR Scout Day with Elite on Feb. 10. I’m pumped to show out there. After that, it’s high school baseball. I’m ready for that.”

Bosch points to his desire to be the best as an important attribute he possesses, something he feels will be beneficial at the next level.

“I’m competitive,” related Bosch, who will turn 17 on Jan. 17. “I might not show my demeanor, but once I’m on the field I’m competing. I’m always playing with a chip on my shoulder, proving I’m better than you.”

As for a timeframe to commit, Bosch has an idea.

“Somewhere mid-summer,” noted Bosch, a 4.25 student considering a college major in business or data analytics. “It depends how spring goes. I’m trying to keep all my options open right now.”
