2024 Prep Baseball Minnesota Diamond Notes: Week 3

Ted Hohn LHP / OF / Belle Plaine, MN / 2024

Our Pitcher of the Week from Week 1 was back at it again this past week. The St. Thomas commit threw his second no-hitter of the year, striking out 18 and issuing two walks against Lester Prairie.

Dylan Staska C / RHP / Willmar, MN / 2024

Dylan went 5-for-10 last week with three doubles, a run scored, drove in five and stole a base. On the mound, he went seven innings with six strikeouts in a complete game win against Brainerd.

Staska is committed to Bethel for football.

Austin Kemp RHP / OF / Chaska, MN / 2024

Kemp had a 16-strikeout, two-hit, complete game fro Chaska in their 4-1 victory over Orono. 

Myles Hanson RHP / 2B / Elk River, MN / 2024

During the Elks 3-1 week, the Augustana commit pitched six innings giving up three earned runs, no walks, and 6 K's in a 7-5 win over Top 10-ranked Champlin Park. 

Jack Meyers SS / RHP / Cannon Falls, MN / 2025

On Monday, Jack went the distance on the mound to defeat Zumbrota-Mazeppa. He allowed one earned run and struck out five. He also hit a double and a home run with 2 RBI. On Tuesday against Triton he played SS and went 4 for 5 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI (his second "triple double" of the year). On Thursday vs Kasson-Mantorville he went 1-3 with 1 RBI.

Caleb Koskie OF / LHP / Benilde-St.Margarets, MN / 2024

7 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 10 strikeouts in a win over Delano

Caden King C / OF / Monticello, MN / 2024

Caden was 5-for-7 with 2 doubles and five RBI to lead the Magic to a 2-0 week. 

Drew Rothenberger OF / 3B / Windom , MN / 2024

In 3 games on the week Drew hit .583 with 2 home runs, 1 triple, and 7 RBI. He also scored 8 runs and stole 3 bases. Drew plans to continue his baseball career at St. Mary's next year.

Jameson Quinn RHP / SS / Holy Family Catholic , MN / 2024

Quinn threw a five inning no-hitter against Jordan, striking out eight and walking one. 

Ashton Detloff LHP / 1B / Perham, MN / 2025

Detloff was 2-0 on the week with wins over Frazee and Pelican Rapids. He threw 10 innings, faced 36 batters, allowed three hits, struck out 19, and walked just three.

Jared Cortez C / OF / Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, MN / 2024

Jared this week was 10-for-15 with four doubles, two triples, scoring seven runs. On the mound he threw 8 innings earning 2 wins, giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 13 hitters.

Bryce Tappen / Mound Westonka, MN / 2024

Bryce threw a complete game shutout against a very good Delano squad, surrendering only 1 hit on the day. 

Colten McGuire / Pequot Lakes, MN / 2024

5 IP, 3H, 1R, 4BB, 5K

Kept hitters off balance, had good control of his pitches and pitched with a good rhythm to keep everyone focused.

Noah Sundquist RHP / C / Cherry, MN / 2025

Noah was 4-6 with a double, 4BB, 4 SB and 5 runs scored last week. He also no-hit Chisholm, going 5 innings while striking out 12 and walking 3.

Uptempo, athletic mover on the mound. Projectable frame.

Fastball had life (81-84 T85) and ran it in on righties.

Confidence in his curveball (70-73) increased as game progressed.

Aiden Smith RHP / 1B / Rockford, MN / 2024

Aiden in 3 games last week had the following stats:

Hitting: 5 for 8 1 HR 1 2B 7 RBI's 3 Runs

Pitching: 1 GS 1 Win 5.0 innings 3 Hits allowed 0 Runs allowed 1 BB 9 K's

Nick Bowron C / 1B / Rochester Lourdes, MN / 2025

In 3 games last week, Nick went 6 for 11 with a double, HR, 7 RBI, 4 R, 2 BB, and was 2 for 2 in SB. He also caught 20 innings behind the plate, throwing out 2 of 4 attempted base stealers. He is a junior and also team captain.

Rylee Hams RHP / SS / East Grand Forks, MN / 2025

Last week vs Thief River Falls:

Complete game (7IP, 4H, 1ER, 0ER, 0BB, 12K)

Offensively: 3-for-6 at the plate (4R, 3RBI, 2 triples, 1 double)

Carter Gwost LHP / OF / Little Falls, MN / 2025

Carter pitched a one hitter (carried a no-hitter into the 7th) with 11 strikeouts against St. Cloud Cathedral on April 23, he was also 3-for-4 at the plate in the Flyers 3-0 win over the Crusaders at Faber Field in St Cloud.

Tyler Peters 3B / RHP / Princeton, MN / 2024

Tyler continues to have an impressive start to the season for the 7-1 Princeton Tigers. He is hitting .667, with 6 doubles and 15 RBIs. He has scored 12 runs and has only one strikeout in 31 plate appearances.

Jackson Conway SS / Washburn, MN / 2024

6-for-8 with five RBI and 5-inning win pitched against school rival. 

Clark Traxler-Menz C / 2B / Edison, MN / 2025

Clark was on fire at the plate last week going 5-for-8 with an OBP of .727, 4 RBIs, 6 Rs, 3 HBP, 3 singles, 1 double and a triple. 

Max Berrisford C / 3B / Duluth Marshall, MN / 2025

4/22: Max had a 1 inning save vs. Aitkin
4/25: Max pitched CG, 7IP, 3 hits, 10Ks
4/26: Max was 4 for 4, 3RBI, 1 Run, 2B 

Caden Hansen OF / 3B / Mankato East, MN / 2025

7-for-14 with 3 doubles and 8 RBI on the week.

Austin Dent LHP / OF / Norwood Young America, MN / 2024

Austin threw a complete game 2 hitter against Howard Lake Waverly Winsted on 4-23-24. He had 7 strikeouts, 1 BB and 1 HBP going the distance to pick up the 8-0 win. 

Joe Timmerman RHP / 3B / Rosemount, MN / 2025

7 Innings, 1 Hit, 0 ER, 8 Ks

Tyler Guerin RHP / 1B / Mounds View, MN / 2024

Offensively: 6-for-9 on the week, 2B, 3B, 5 runs scored, 4 BBs.

Pitching: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 13 Ks v East Ridge.

Dakota Retterath / Austin, MN / 2024

5-for-10 on the week with 5 RBIs and 1 Run score, Also pitched in relief and recored a his first win as a pitcher this season. The Packers went 2-1 on the week because of big at-bats from Dakota. 

Cody Glasheen OF / 2B / Irondale, MN / 2025

In addition to a few highlight reel/SportsCenter worthy catches in cener, Cody went 5-for-13 with five runs scored and a SB in four tightly played Suburban East games. 

Ethen Brunkow / Lincoln, MN / 2025

Ethen threw a complete game shutout against Winona-Cotter, going 6 innings and allowing only 3 hits (5 K's & 0 BB's). That puts Ethen's season totals on the mound at 2-0 with 20.1 IP, 17 K's (1BB), 0.00 ERA, and only allowing 10 hits (.119 BAA). Ethen also went 3-8 over a 3 game span (Pine Island & Winona Cotter) with 3 RBI and 2 BB. 

Quintin Tietz OF / RHP / Windom Area, MN / 2025

Quintin hit .583 on the week including a home run, 2 doubles, and 5 RBI. Over the 3 games he had 9 runs scored and 5 stolen bases. Quintin is a junior who has an extremely bright baseball career ahead of him and is off to a great start this season.

Max Edwards RHP / C / Rockford, MN / 2025

Max in 3 games last week had the following stats:

Hitting: 5 for 8 1 HR 1 2B 4 RBI's 4 Runs 3 BBs

Pitching: 1 GS 1 Win 5.0 innings 3 Hits allowed 0 Runs allowed 0 BB's 11 Ks

Owen Marsolek LHP / OF / Duluth Marshall, MN / 2025

Was also 1-4 that game in a 3-0 Win.

CG shutout vs Roseville in 6-0 win, 3 hits, 13 Ks.
