PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Scheffler: I visited Ball State in late June and there wasn’t a negative thing about the school. From the school itself and everything about the baseball program, it made the decision a lot easier.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Scheffler: North Dakota St, South Dakota St, Augustana, St Cloud State

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Scheffler: Coach Beemer saw me in Nashville a couple summers ago and we communicated with each other ever since.  He is a great guy and we developed a great relationship right after our first time communicating.  I talked to Coach Maloney for the first time on my visit and we grew a great relationship right away.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Scheffler: Now that I’ve decided, I can just focus on school and athletics for my senior year and it feels great.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Scheffler: I really liked everything about Ball State.  From everything campus wise and athletics wise I could not ask for anything more.  The thing that made the choice a whole lot easier was the coaching staff.  They care about the players just as much as people as they do baseball players and that is special to me.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Scheffler: My parents. They’ve been there every step of the way and they’re the reason I’m where I’m at today.  They have allowed to me to do so many things to improve my game and get me exposure and I could not thank them enough.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Scheffler: Coming in I was very excited to see all of my options and to have coaches reach out showing their interest is really cool, but after you get further down the road and have to make a decision it gets a little stressful and difficult.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Scheffler: Compete for a spot in the OF and Corner Infield

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Scheffler: Winning the state championship my 8th grade year.  Playing at Target Field was something I will never forget, and I hope I can play there one more time during my senior season.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Scheffler: Nick Altermatt
