The PBR MN Fall Review event took place on Sunday, October 22, 2017. The event was held at the West St. Paul Sports Dome in West St. Paul, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2018-2021 classes who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance.

Today we highlight the pitchers who performed at the end of the fall event.

The top pitcher at this year's MN Fall Review event was 2019 Bennett Theisen from Minnehaha Academy. The 2-way prospect is currently the #8 ranked player in the MN 2019 class and #388 in the PBR Overall. One of the top uncommitted prospects in the state; Theisen's ability on the mound and as a position player should push him towards the top of many school's recruiting lists.

PITCHER EVALUATIONS (ALPHABETICAL)

Christian Ash, RHP, St. Anthony, 2019
6-foot-4, 176-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall build with lean wiry strength. Small step into crouched balance point, lands inline with catcher, short arm action, solid extension to plate. Fastball was 73-77 mph with straight action plate. Curveball has 11/5 shape, loose spin, early break, but shows ability to land for strikes consistently. Hitchy arm action on changeup with avg. fade.

Maxwell Aug, SS/RHP, Chatfield, 2021
5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Follow in the MN 2021 class. 7.31 runner. Square stance, body load, aggressive line drive swing, gap to gap hitter, uses hands well in swing, 76 mph exit velocity. Avg. hands and feet, makes routine plays, decent athlete in field, accurate to bag on throws, 79 mph arm across infield. On mound; rocker step into athletic balance point, pie arm action, swings down mound and lands inline with catcher. Fastball had late cutting action at 75-78 mph for strikes. Slider was best pitch; Frisbee action, 10/4 shape, with tight spin and late break. Cut action on changeup for strikes.

Ian Bahn, OF/RHP, Mounds View, 2020
6-foot, 205-pound switch hitting 2-way player. Compact build with well above avg. strength for age. 6.95 runner. LHH- square stance with body load, leg kick trigger, slightly uncontrolled swing, flashes hard contact. RHH- more controlled with better balance, spray contact across field. Shows raw strength from both sides of plate with occasional pop in bat, 92 mph exit velocity. Shows good actions in field, appropriate footwork, clean exchanges with quick release, longer arm action with well above avg. carry and accuracy to target, 91 mph arm strength from outfield. On mound; rocker step into slightly crouched balance point, compact arm action, and drives baseball downhill. Fastball was 84-86 mph for strikes to both sides of plate with flashes of heavy action. Solid depth on 11/5 curveball with ability to land for strikes. Avg. action on changeup, tends to slow arm action, with avg. feel for pitch.

Shane Brown, OF/RHP, Mahtomedi, 2018
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.15 runner. Square stance, double tap trigger, lower hand slot, flashed hard contact, aggressive approach, spray contact, 84 mph exit velocity. Confident in field, plays fast, works through ball, solid accuracy and carry to target, 79 mph arm from outfield. On mound; rocker step into controlled medium balance point, lands inline to catcher, cuts through on release with avg. extension. Fastball was delivered on slight downhill plane; 71-73 mph for strikes. Loose spin on 11/5 curveball with ability to land in zone. Shows above avg. fade on changeup; thrown with good arm speed.

Jack Clawson, RHP, Eden Prairie, 2019
6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. Durable build with stronger lower half. Up tempo delivery, tall tuck and turn at balance point, compact arm action, with flashes of arm speed. OT arm slot producing 74-75 mph fastball with occasional running action. Large shape on breaking ball with 12/6 spin; thrown at 62-64 mph. Changeup shows straight action at 65-67 mph.

Charlie Cudd, LHP/1B, Trinity, 2019
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; uptempo rhythm, high leg kick delivery, hides ball from hitter, arm is relatively clean from OT slot. Fastball was 73-75 mph, touching 76 mph, with flashes of cut action. Large shape and break on 1/7 curveball. 7.19 runner. Square stance, double tap trigger, some stiffness to swing, spray contact, uses whole field, 72 mph exit velocity. Avg. hands and feet at first, avg. footwork around bag, solid receiver, short arm action, 73 mph arm across infield.

Rodney Erickson, OF/RHP, Woodbury, 2020
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.07 runner. Square stance, slight shoulder load, consistent hard contact, gap to gap approach, aggressive swinger with solid bat speed, 84 mph exit velocity. Decent actions in field, low front side on throws, clean arm action, avg. carry to target with accuracy, 81 mph arm strength from outfield. On mound; rocker step into slight tuck and turn delivery, works inline to plate, drop and drive mechanics, with mid ¾ arm slot. Produces 78-79 mph, touching 81 mph, fastballs with run and heavy sink. Slider is above avg. with late movement; thrown at67-69 mph. Changeup has straight flat action to plate.

Conner Fonger, OF/RHP, Superior (WI), 2019
5-foot-9, 172-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 6.95 runner. Square stance, shoulder load, flat line drive swing plane, stiff finish with limited use of lower half, gap to gap approach, spray contact, has present strength, 80 mph exit velocity. Solid fielder, college left-fielder, clean arm action, solid accuracy to target, has solid athleticism, 77 mph arm strength from outfield. On mound; rocker step into slightly crouched balance point. Lands across body with average extension and finish to plate. OT arm slot producing 72-74 mph fastball, touching 76 mph, with run and sink to plate. Tight spin on 11/5 breaking ball for strikes. Changeup with thrown with good hand speed creating fade and sink.

Isaac Frandsen, 1B/RHP, Monticello, 2019
6-foot-1, 180-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.65 runner. Open stance, leg kick trigger, arm bar in load, drags barrel through zone occasionally, solid contact, mid/pull approach, line drive and fly ball contact, 86 mph exit velocity. Sure hands, has athleticism at position, solid footwork around bag, 83 mph arm across field. On mound; narrow stance, rolls into balance point, athletic arm action, has hand speed and extension to plate. Fastball shows late heavy running action to plate; thrown at 79-81 mph. Tight spin on 11/5 breaking ball at 61-64 mph. Changeup is thrown with good hand speed; creating fade and sink for strikes.

Nikolas Fredrikson, LHP/OF, St. Anthony Village, 2018
5-foot-11, 145-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; athletic uptempo delivery, slightly uncontrolled front leg, hides ball from hitter, and has clean loose arm action out front. Fastball was 75-77 mph with late run and sink. Avg./ok shape on 1/7 curveball with early break to plate. Flat running action on changeup with average fade. Projectable arm action, balls jumps on hitter, and will make a jump into 2018 MN rankings. 7.22 runner. Square stance, body load, low hand slot, works up and through baseball, mid/away approach with fly ball contact, 77 mph exit velocity. Solid athleticism in field, long strides and covers ground, hitchy arm action, avg. carry on throws with accuracy to target, 79 mph arm strength from outfield.

Easton Gamoke, RHP, Winona, 2018
6-foot-4, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall athletic build. Short rocker step into slight tuck and turn balance point. Clean compact arm action, lands inline to catcher, with good extension and finish. Fastball has late cutting action; thrown at 78-80 mph for strikes. Curveball is thrown with hand speed creating tight 12/6 shape with sharp break. Changeup is straight and firm for strikes.

Thomas Gross, SS/RHP, Minnetonka, 2020
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.56 runner. Body load with leg kick trigger, slight shoulder load, shows athletic actions in box, uphill swing plane, mid/pull approach, flashes hard line drive and fly ball contact, 88 mph exit velocity. Projectable build in field. Light on his feet, good footwork, confident fielder, soft hands, accurate to bag with long release on throws, 84 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; athletic delivery with rhythm, compact arm action, has extension out front, above avg. hand speed on release. Fastball was 81-84 mph with varying action at the plate. Developing breaking ball feel; flashing tight 11/5 spin when released out front. Changeup was 70-74 mph; thrown with arm speed. Strong follow in MN 2020 class.

Parker Hafermann, OF/LHP, Prior Lake, 2018
5-foot-8, 145-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Currently #141 ranked player in MN 2018 class. Will make a move up rankings once updated. 7.07 runner. Square stance, shows rhythm and balance in swing with good balance, aggressive through contact, mid/pull approach, hard line drive and fly ball contact, 86 mph exit velocity. Has actions in field, works through ball, above avg. arm with accuracy and carry to target, 86 mph arm strength from outfield. On mound; rocker step into short balance point, picks up tempo through delivery, lands inline, with athletic arm action and hand speed. Fastball was 78-79 mph with heavy run and sink for strikes. Shows late break on 1/7 curveball. Changeup has fade and depth; thrown with good arm speed.

Zachary Halpin, RHP/1B, Chesterton Academy, 2018
6-foot-7, 205-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; projectable frame with size, overhead delivery, lands across body, long arm action, shows extension to plate. Currently lacks body control; solid follow and could develop significantly in college. Fastball was 77-80 mph, touching 82 mph, on downhill plane with late heavy sink. Slider shape on breaking ball with loose spin. Flashes of arm-side run on changeup; thrown at 69-71 mph. 7.76 runner. Wider stance, strides inline, flat barrel plane, collapses at contact, spray contact, uses whole field, 85 mph exit velocity. Tall target at first, sure hands, avg. footwork around bag, long arm action, 72 mph arm strength across field.

Patrick Hayes, LHP, Rosemount, 2019
6-foot-2, 165-pound left-handed pitcher. Tall slender build. Controlled tempo in delivery, long arm action, clean arm path, lands inline to catcher, with solid extension to plate. Fastball showed slight arm-side sink at 71-74 mph; touching 75 mph. Small shape and short break on curveball thrown at 60-61 mph. Flashes of run and sink on changeup at 63-66 mph.

Parker Hermansen, RHP, Coon Rapids, 2018
6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher. Stronger durable build. Slight tuck and turn delivery with shoulder tilt, lands inline to catcher, some stiffness to delivery overall in arm action and finish. Fastball was 74-76 mph, touching 78 mph, delivered on slight downhill plane. Solid depth on 11/5 curveball with ability to land consistently for strikes. Flat action on changeup with flashes of solid fade.

Joseph Hurth, 3B/RHP, Hopkins, 2020
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Strong follow in MN 2020 class. 7.31 runner. Open stance, strides across body, pull approach, hooks barrel at contact, solid bat speed, aggressive approach, 90 mph exit velocity. Above avg. arm action, solid fielder, developing actions and athleticism in field, quick release, throws across body, 82 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; backwards step rolling into high leg kick balance point, compact arm action, clean out front, flashing above avg. hand speed. Fastball was 82-84 mph, delivered on slight downhill plane, with flashes of life. Wraps curveball early, shows late break, 11/5 spin, and throws with conviction. Changeup is overly hard right now; but has arm action and feel on mound to be able to develop pitch.

Zachary Jakubowsky, LHP, Farmington, 2019
6-foot-1, 175-pound left-handed pitcher. Projectable lean athletic frame. Side-step into athletic balance point. Shows rhythm and tempo in delivery. Low ¾ arm slot with clean compact arm action. Fastball was 80-82 mph; flashing heavy run and sink. Solid breaking ball with 1/7 shape and short break at the plate. Changeup is firm; but flashes late running action and is thrown with arm speed. Strong follow in 2019 class and will make jump into MN 2019 rankings.

Jeremy Klick, RHP/2B, Maple Grove, 2019
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; tall slender build, short rocker step into balance point, tends to rush out occasionally, has athletic actions on mound, clean arm action from OT slot. Some hitch and deception in delivery; produces 77-79 mph fastballs with occasional life. 11/5 curveball has 11/5 shape with tight spin for strikes. Tends to slow arm slightly on changeup with solid action at plate. Tall stance, short path through zone, early exit, some stiffness in lower half, spray contact across field, 83 mph exit velocity. Solid athlete in field, sure hands, covers ground well, has accuracy to bag, 83 mph arm strength across infield.

Justin Kloster, OF/LHP, Minnetonka, 2019
5-foot-8, 165-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.78 runner. Square stance, pre-set load, pull approach, hook contact, 81 mph exit velocity. Long clean arm action, solid/avg. actions, has carry and accuracy to target, 79 mph arm strength from outfield. On mound; wide base, travels across rubber, crouched balance point, drives down mound, lands inline to catcher, longer arm action. Fastball was 74-76 mph and works to arm-side of plate. Early break on 1/7 curveball with avg. spin and shape. Changeup is firm and thrown for strikes.

Maxwell Kohlhepp, OF/RHP, Forest Lake, 2020
5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.87 runner. Square stance, easy load and stride, mid/pull approach, consistent solid contact, sprays baseballs across field, solid mechanics and should continue to improve with added strength, 74 mph exit velocity. Solid actions in field, works behind and through baseball, clean arm action with accuracy to target, 77 mph arm strength from outfield. On mound; rocker step into controlled high leg kick, lands inline to plate, with extension on release. Short arm action from OT slot producing fastballs with varying action at 72-73 mph. 12/6 breaking has solid depth. Varying action on changeup for strikes at 62-63 mph.

Jacob Kunzer, 1B/RHP, Forest Lake, 2018
6-foot-2, 170-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.5 runner. Square stance, body load, flat swing plane, pull approach, line drive and fly ball hitter, 81 mph exit velocity. Athleticism at position, confident fielder, solid footwork around bag, 76 mph arm across field. On mound; tall athletic build, shows body control, submarine arm slot, hides ball from hitter, has extension to plate. Fastball had above avg. run and sink at 69-70 mph; touching 72 mph. Loose spin on side-ways breaking ball. Changeup is firm presently; but should continue to develop pitch from arm slot.

Craig Lasley, RHP, Hanson (SD), 2019
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Sturdy athletic frame. Rocker step into athletic balance point, has tempo and rhythm in delivery, clean compact arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball was 76-78 mph with life; jumping on catcher in last 6-8 feet. Above avg. depth and tight spin on breaking ball; thrown at67-69 mph. Changeup, at 68-69 mph, had straight action with occasional sink. Follow in 2019 class; should continue to add velocity with maturity and gains in strength.

Drew Lingen, RHP/C, Rochester John Marshall, 2021
6-foot-2, 178-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Projectable build for age. On mound; controlled delivery with pauses in tempo, crouch at balance point, short draw on backside of arm action with extension out front. Fastball showed slight arm-side sink with running action at 77-80 mph. Loopy shape and break on slider. Flashes of solid action on knuckleball; thrown at bottom of zone. 8.08 runner. Open stance, strides to square, slight hitch in load, creates above avg. bat speed, gap to gap hitter with consistent solid contact, 85 mph exit velocity. Average receiver and blocker, shows quick feet behind plate, quick release from lower arm slot, avg. accuracy to bag, 75 mph arm strength with 2.1-2.27 pop times. Has room for development and should continue to make progression. Follow in 2021 class.

Caidan Moore, 3B/RHP, DeLaSalle, 2021
5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.52 runner. Tall stance, balanced stride, rolls hands over early through contact, avg. contact, spray to all fields, 71 mph exit velocity. Solid glove, plays tall occasionally, avg. overall actions, accurate to bag, 67 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; controlled delivery, slight tuck and turn, long draw on back-side of arm action, lands inline to plate, with occasional extension to plate. Fastball was 70-72 mph, touching 75 mph, with straight action to plate. Loose spin and early break on 10/4 curveball. Changeup currently shows straight action to plate.

Matt Olive, C/RHP, Blake School, 2020
5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.62 runner. Square stance, body load with leg kick trigger, quiet head, solid rhythm, slight lift through swing plane, mid/pull approach with solid bat speed, 89 mph exit velocity. Shows good hands receiving, solid mobility, clean footwork behind plate, short exchange with appropriate arm action, avg. accuracy short of bag, 76 mph arm strength with 2.13-2.21 pop times. On mound; controlled delivery into athletic balance point, long clean arm action, lands inline with catcher, balls comes out well in front with extension and finish to plate. Fastball was 81-83 mph with heavy action in bottom of zone on downhill plane. Solid curveball, should continue to improve, with 11/5 spin and avg. depth. Split action on changeup with solid feel for pitch and heavy action at bottom of zone.

Brady Posch, LHP, Sauk Rapids, 2019
6-foot-1, 210-pound left-handed pitcher. Thick durable build with present strength. Short rocker step into controlled balance point, creates rhythm with overhead glove and hand movement, lands inline to catcher, clean compact arm action with extension to plate. Fastball jumps on hitter, 82-83 mph- topping 85 mph, with heavy late arm-side sink. Late short break on slider at 70-73 mph. Changeup has depth; thrown with good arm speed and has late running action. Follow in 2019 class and will make jump into MN 2019 rankings.

Wyatt Rudolf, OF/RHP, Chanhassen, 2019
5-foot-10, 135-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.53 runner. Slightly open stance, heavy body load, strides to square, clean uphill path through baseball, mid/away fly ball contact, clean bat path through baseball, 79 mph exit velocity. Solid actions in field, works behind and through baseball, above avg. arm action with hand quickness, has carry and accuracy on throws, 85 mph arm strength from outfield. On mound; controlled tempo with body control, flashes of arm speed, OT arm slot, with direction and finish to plate. Fastball was 78-79 mph with flashes of life up in zone and occasional heavy sink when down in zone. Flat 11/5 break on curveball with avg. depth. Changeup has solid fade and is thrown for strikes.

Kieran Schmitz, LHP, Plymouth, 2020
6-foot, 163-pound right-handed pitcher. Projectable build that should continue to add size and strength. Rocker step into slight crouched balance point, short arm action, hides ball from hitter, has above avg. feel for zone with 3 pitches, with deception to hitter. Above avg. tilt on fastball, jumps on hitter, at 79-81 mph. Confident in breaking ball; showing easy ability to land 1/7 curveball for strikes. Varying late action on firm changeup for strikes. Strong follow in 2020 class.

Isaiah Testa, RHP/OF, Minnewaska, 2019
5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; rocker step into athletic balance point, lands across body, with upright finish. ¾ arm slot with hitchy arm action. Fastball was 68-70 mph, touching 72 mph, with slight running action to plate. Curveball had 11/5 shape. Changeup is thrown with hand speed and shows fade. 7.77 runner. Rolling shoulder load, double tap trigger, some stiffness in lower half in swing, spray contact across field, 73 mph exit velocity. Tends to play flat-footed, limited momentum on throws, average accuracy to target, 70 mph arm strength from outfield.

Bennett Theisen, 3B/RHP, Minnehaha Academy, 2019
6-foot, 195-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #8 ranked player in MN 2019 class and #388 in PBR Overall. 7.34 runner. Tall stance, balanced, above avg. bat speed, short finish through contact, line drive and fly ball hitter with pop in bat, 93 mph exit velocity. Strong arm with accurate online throws to bag with carry, 87 mph arm across infield, works around and through baseball, solid glove skills, plays with confidence, good body control. On mound; builds tempo through delivery, athletic leg kick into taller tuck and turn balance point, clean athletic arm action, drives down mound, with extension and finish to plate. Fastball had late cutting action at 86-88 mph for strikes. Short break on tight spinning slider, thrown with conviction, at 74-78 mph. Solid feel for changeup with good action and lands consistently in bottom of zone for strikes.

Brian Vanyo, RHP/3B, Rosemount, 2018
5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; uptempo delivery, tall tuck and turn at balance point, quick down mound with solid arm speed. Short compact arm action from OT slot. Pitches downhill with straight fastball at 77-80 mph. Shows ability to land curveball in with zone with solid 11/5 shape. Inconsistent changeup left short of plate. 7.14 runner. Narrow open stance, active load, effects timing to contact, spray contact, uses whole field, 81 mph exit velocity. Short arm action with hand speed, shows carry and accuracy to bag, narrow fielding stance, raw mechanics, 78 mph arm strength across infield.

Logan Ymker, RHP, Sioux Falls Roosevelt (SD), 2018
6-foot-6, 185-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall lean build with long legs and high waist. Has projection and could blossom in college with physical maturity. Shows body control on mound, medium balance point, lands inline with catcher, with longer arm action. Arm is clean out front producing 82-84 mph fastballs with straight action to plate. Flashes sharp break on curveball with 11/5 shape. Flat action on changeup with avg. fade. With development will continue to add velocity; has above avg. projection on mound.

Jordan Zabel, RHP/3B, PEM, 2020
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; short rocker step into balance point, picks up tempo through delivery, lands across body, with upright finish to plate. Compact arm action producing 75-76 mph fastballs, touching 79 mph, with flashes of running action. Shows sharp late break on 10/4 slider; and is an above avg. pitch. Tends to guide changeup; slowing arm action. 7.9 runner. Narrow stance, uncontrolled leg kick trigger, stiffness to swing plane, spray contact, uses whole field, 81 mph exit velocity. Solid carry and accuracy, stiff hands, raw mechanically with footwork, 75 mph arm strength across infield.
