Collins is a grinding, switch-hitting middle infielder. He has solid tools across the board that make him one of the state’s most coveted recruits in the 2016 class. He has an athletic frame at 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame, and takes a good first step on defense, which gives him range. He has good footwork around the bag and gets good carry to his throws. He takes an aggressive approach at the plate, looking for hard contact early in the count. He shows more strength from the right side of the plate, his natural side, but shows more rhythm and fluid mechanics from the left.
