The Hotlist: Top Position Players Coming To Future Games

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

On August 4-6, the 2016 Prep Baseball Report Future Games will take place at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. The event is made up of state and region teams with uncommitted 2018s and 2019s. More than 100 college programs had at least one coach attend and this year’s event will expand to 16 teams. To get ready for this year, the next few Hotlists will highlight some of the top prospects coming to the Future Games. We’ll look at the top pitchers and position players, as well as the top 2019s.

We highlighted the top pitchers last week. This week, we have the top position players who will represent their state next month. All are 2018s, unless otherwise noted.

Jaden Brown, SS, St. Marcellinus SS, ON (2019)
Brown is athletic at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds. He has very good bat speed at the plate with electric hands and power in his swing. The ball jumps off his bat and he works mostly to his pull side. He’s still learning to hit, but stays balanced while showing his power potential. Defensively, he has the athleticism to stay at short, though his hands and feet are still learning to work together. His throws have carry across the diamond and he works from a 3/4 slot. His best 60 time so far is 7.16, but his dad was a Division I sprinter and that time could improve down the road.
