Uncommitted Spotlight: 18' Tommy Auth, 1B, Hopkins

Josh Threlkeld
Prep Baseball Report Minnesota

Today's spotlight focuses on Tommy Auth, a right-handed hitting first baseman from Hopkins High School. A middle of the order hitter, Tommy delivers the bat on a level plane through the zone with decent hand speed and short to contact load and bat path. Some time in the weight room will see an overall increase in bat speed that will increase an already impressive 88 mph exit velo. Auth has one of the higher potentials for power of the 2018 first basemen; who already displays above average pull side pop in the bat. Defensively, the 5'11 first baseman shows an advanced knowledge of footwork around the base with an overall understanding of the position. Currently ranked as the #5 first baseman and #100 player overall in the Minnesota 2018 class; Auth has a real chance to improve his stock with another off-season spent in the weight room and an impressive spring coming up.
