Scouting Report

2018 PBR Future Games- 1/5 in game action with a single, 2 HBP, and 2 RBI’s.

7/11/18- 6-foot-1, 210-pound right-handed hitting first baseman.  7.28 runner.  Slightly open stance into leg lift load back.  Strong and balanced through swing.  Good swing plane with hard line drive contact.  Gap to gap approach with mainly line drive and fly ball result.  Can have the tendency to swing down to ball.  92 mph exit velocity.  IF- Good feet and hands.  Fields ball out in front and moves well around bag.  79 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. 

6/17/18- 6-foot-1, 220-pound right-handed hitting first baseman. 7.5 runner. Open stance, easy load, quiet head, routinely squares baseball, shows pop in bat to all fields, stays on and through contact, 89 mph exit velocity. Confident fielder, works well around bag, soft hands, above avg. arm for position with accuracy and quick release, 78 mph arm across infield.

3/17/18- 6-foot-1, 210-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.57 runner. Open stance with body load and strides square, easy hand load, line drive swing plane with lift through contact, shows ability to use whole field, hard contact, and has pop in bat, 89 mph exit velocity. Shows above avg. actions at first, works through ball, active feet, comfortable around bag, with arm strength at position, 78 mph arm across infield. On mound; high balance point, slight lean in posture, clean delivery with slight stab on backside. Fastball was 79-80 mph; clean out front; with varying action to plate. Developing slider, thrown with solid hand speed, with inconsistent release point and tends to back up on hitter. Avg. feel for changeup thrown with stiff wrist and firm velo.

 

7/5/17- 6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitting first baseman. 7.69 runner. Spread stance, slight arm bar, fights back elbow load to contact, has above avg. bat speed, present strength and flashes occasional pop to pull side of field, 88 mph exit velocity. Fields out front, sure hands, solid footwork around bag, 75 mph arm strength across field.

3/18/17- 6-foot-1, 210-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 8.06 runner. Wider stance, body load, some length to contact with arm bar, gap to gap hitter, drives ball well when down in zone, flashes of pop in bat, 83 mph exit velocity. Active feet, sure hands, moves around bag well, comfortable and confident receiving throws, quick release with accurate arm, 64 mph arm strength. On mound; pauses in delivery, slightly uncontrolled over rubber, short arm action, hides ball from hitter. Fastball was 75-78 mph showing varying late action to plate. Curveball will morph into slider later on; tight spin with late break. Repeats well with consistent changeup showing action and fade.

Hoeg: I’ve spoken with a number of D1 and D2 colleges

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

Hoeg: I’ve visited a number of the D1 and D2 colleges 

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Hoeg: I am looking for a great a program, with coaches that will help me develop as a baseball player and person, and a history of a successful program. Also, a school with great academics

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your sophomore year?

Hoeg: 

  • Winning the South Suburban Conference
  • Starting First Basemen as a sophomore for Prior Lake High School Varsity
  • Two HR game against Rosemount (my 2nd varsity game)
  • Being fortunate enough to be selected to participate in the 2018 PBR Futures Games
  • Batting .700 at Perfect Game tourney in June 2018 with 18u Varsity Minnesota Millers
  • Batting over .500 in the summer 2018 Season with the 18u Varsity Minnesota Millers 

PBR: What are your goals for this year?

Hoeg: Help my team Win the South Suburban Conference, and Win State!,  Make 1st Team All State and 1st Team All Conference, Finalize my college choice 

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Hoeg: Yes, I am a Starter on Prior Lake's Varsity football team 

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?

Hoeg: ACT- 24 and GPA- 3.62
