The Prep Baseball Report Midwest Future Games featured the top Class of 2014 prospects from six states on August 4-5 at the University of Illinois. The second-annual event was headlined by an amazing group of pitchers, 12 of whom touched 88-plus with their fastballs.
As special as the pitching was, it was the bat of Colby Fitch (Hickman HS, MO) that commanded center stage. The left-handed hitting Fitch hit three home runs in three games against top-level pitching. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound C/INF finished 4-for-6 with 6 RBI, three walks and three no-doubt shots.
Fitch’s performance earned him the Most Valuable Player honors of the Midwest Future Games. Last year, Ryne Roper (Harrisburg HS, IL) earned MVP honors.
