Inside the 2020 Rankings: Uncommitted Right-Handed Pitchers

After a long summer and fall of tournaments and showcases, here is an inside look at Missouri's 2020 Rankings. Today, we take a look at available right-handed pitchers in the 2020 class from around the Show Me State.
2020 RIGHT HANDED PITCHERS
Kyle Brown RHP / 3B / Hickman , MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 58 / POS: 20
Brown is a 5-foot-9 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Brown is a strike thrower with a four pitch mix, short over the top arm slot, smooth delivery, works in line down the mound, drop and drive type delivery, fastball at 79-81 mph, works on a downhill plane to both sides of the plate, heavy fastball, showed an 11-to-5 curveball and 10-to-4 slider, curveball has late break at 68-70 mph, slider at 70-72 mph, has feel for both with late and sharp movement, has command of a change up at 72-73 mph, strong build with pitch ability and command. |
Alex Callia RHP / 3B / Lee's Summit North, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 57 / POS: 19
Callia is a strong 5-foot-8 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 7.20 60 and a 4.90 home to first. He has an exit velocity of 88 mph. At the plate, starts with open stance, toe tap, in line stride, level path, strong hands, middle to pull side line drives during batting practice, has pull power. Singled twice and tripled to right center field in game action. On the infield, 80 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, fields ball in rhythm with footwork, clean transfer, fluid actions, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Callia threw strikes and attacked hitters, strong build, uses lower half well, repeats delivery, slight tuck at balance point, creates direction towards the mound, high three quarters release, fastball at 81-84 mph, works both sides of the plate, curveball has tight 12-to-6 spin, flashed sharpness, change up at 73-74 mph, throws with near fastball arm speed. |
Gavyn Dockery RHP / Ladue, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 74 / POS: 25
Dockery has a strong frame, big body at 6-foot-4, 213 pound, right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Dockery has a big and athletic body, aggressive down the mound towards home plate, some effort involved with delivery, long and loose arm action, downhill tilt, throws from an over the top slot, very quick arm. Fastball sits 84-86 mph, arm side run, occasional sink, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, changeup has arm side run, 78-79 mph per hour, thrown with fastball arm speed, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, late downward action, swing and miss type pitch, near fastball arm speed thrown between 84-86 mph. |
Kyle Miller RHP / 3B / Eureka , MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 10
Miller is a long and lean 6-foot-2 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman. He has an 88 mph positional velo, ball comes out of the easy with carry and accuracy to first base. Miller has smooth actions at third base with a clean exchange and a short over the top release. He ran a 7.15 50 and has a 90 mph exit velo. His swing produced mostly pull side line drives, flashing power. His build and athleticism make it easy for coaches to dream about what Miller will become down the road. On the mound, closed game one striking out two in the last two innings of work. He pitched with a fastball-curveball mix. Fastball had some late life with two-seam action at mostly 85-86 mph, touching 87 mph. Miller threw his breaking ball for a strike at 70-72 mph. He has a lean streamlined frame with quick arm speed that will translate to more velo down the road and will add to already good command. |
Zack Ploch RHP / 3B / Timberland, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 48 / POS: 17
Ploch is a 5-foot-11 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Ploch has an over the top release, throws with some effort, aggressive down the mound, attacks strike zone, strong frame with arm strength, does have deception in delivery, hides ball, throws breaking ball with fastball arm speed, fastball has life with running action, late, 81-83 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, flashing late break. |
Tyler Purdum RHP / 3B / Parkway West, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 82 / POS: 27
Purdue is a 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 8.15 60 and a 4.85 home to first. He has an exit velocity of 81 mph. At the plate, starts in balanced position, high hands, loads with leg lift, aggressive swing, short to contact, works the middle and oppo gap, strong and aggressive bat speed. On the infield, 77 mph positional velo, three quarters arm slot, made all plays cleanly, fields ball out front, clean transfer with fluid footwork, momentum after catch, mostly accurate throws. Doubled down left field line in game action. On the mound, Purdue has a controlled leg lift, strides slightly across body, over the top release point, showed command of fastball and curveball, fastball at mostly 80-83 mph, touches 84 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 action 71-76 mph, smooth delivery, strong body, repeats, arm action and build would suggest increases as he continues to develop. |
Luis Sanchez RHP / 1B / Valley Park, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 75 / POS: 26
Sanchez is 6-foot, 185-pound, right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Sanchez has a slender build, long limbs and projectable frame. On the mound, Sanchez works from the stretch only, smooth delivery, high leg kick, good direction towards home plate, in line stride, loose arm action, three-quarter release, quick arm, repeatable delivery with normal effort. Fastball sits 84-85 mph, tops at 86 mph, arm side run, thrown for strikes, changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed, 76-78 mph, arm side run, curveball is 64-66 mph, late downward action, 11-to-5 shape, chance to be a plus pitch. |
