SCOUT BLOG (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)
Jake Collier, LHP, Pacific, 2025
Athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with compact strength, particularly in the lower half. Drew the start for the Indians in a district quarterfinal win, tossing six innings of unearned ball while striking out seven and not walking one. Simple, fluid, and athletic mover, arm works of a tight window and finishes from a fast ¾ slot. Fastball pitched in the low-to-mid-80s, touching 85 mph, and he consistently worked his curveball and changeup in the zone to keep hitters off balance. Also had a deep double in the contest to the pull-side gap to plate a couple of runs in a key moment. One of the state’s top sophomore arms that concluded his second season with a 1.62 ERA over 34 â…” innings, punching out 53 and walking only 13.
Josh Cunningham, RHP, DeSmet, 2023
St. Louis signee and a top arm in the state’s senior class, slotted at No. 42 overall. 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame with stock shoulders and strength throughout. Threw a no-hitter on 88 pitches in DeSmet’s district semi-final win, punching out five while walking only two. Fastball played mostly downhill from an over-the-top slot, pitching in the mid-to-upper-80s throughout, touching 89 mph in the first. Relied heavily on his fastball, but flashed sharp spin on an above-average breaking ball at 74-76 mph, and it’s a pitch that we’ve seen generate swing-and-miss in the past.
Andrew DuMont, RHP, St. Louis University HS, 2024
Tennessee commit. Strong, well-proportioned 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame. One of the top arms in Missouri, slotted at No. 5 overall in the state’s 2024 class and No. 85 nationally. Drew the start for the Jr. Billikens in their semi-final game against DeSmet. Fastball played in the upper-80s, touching 91 mph in the first, with late life and sizzle at times. Spun a firm slider at 80-82 mph with lateral break, landed it for strikes on occasion.
Nazzan Zanetello, SS/OF, CBC, 2023
Arkansas signee. One of the nation’s top prospects, slotted at No. 2 in Missouri’s senior class and No. 90 overall in the country. Really looks the part in a uniform, stands at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds with present strength and room for more. Started at shortstop and hit in the two-hole for the Cadets in this look. Screamed a no-doubt home run over the left-center fence from a fast, athletic, and level right-handed swing. Floated around the infield in pregame, helped turn a key double play for the Cadets late in the game, too. Continues to draw plenty of professional buzz as the MLB Draft approaches.
