Here is a look inside the recruiting process for Braden Cox.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Cox: I haven’t taken any official visits yet but have attended several camps.  Also, my travel club has provided me exposure to colleges in many states. And I toured several schools on the East Coast during the USA Baseball NTIS in Cary, NC in 2011 and 2012.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Cox: I plan to major in Finance, so I am interested in a strong business program.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Cox: Scott City had a record of 23-8 and returned to the MO Class 3 Final 4 for the second year in a row.  Last year we got 2nd place and this year we ended with 3rd place.  As a pitcher, I was 7-2 in 56 innings, with 72 Ks, 11 walks and a 2.38 ERA.  At the plate, I batted .410 with 41 hits, 14 doubles, 1 triple, 2 HRs and 16 stolen bases.  I was the Conference Player of the Year, All-District, All-Southeast Missourian and I was just nominated as a Semoball Awards Finalist for baseball.  This was my third year with All-Conference and All-District honors, including 1st Team All-State Pitcher as a sophomore.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Cox: My goal is to increase my pitching velocity, bat over .450 and to help my team to return to another Final 4 appearance.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Cox: This is my 5th year playing with the Lids Missouri Bulls organization and this year with the 18's.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Cox: I also play football, basketball and participate in the weight-lifting program for Scott City.  In football, I have been starting quarterback since 9th grade, where I was All-Conference and All-Region as a sophomore.  As a junior, I was All-Conference and All-Region as both a running back and defensive back. I was also selected to the All-Southeast Missourian team as a sophomore and junior.  In basketball, I have started Varsity since my freshmen year.  I was All-District my sophomore year and All-Conference both my sophomore and junior years.  And in the weight-lifting program, I train 4-5 days a week.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Cox: I received a 22 on the ACT and have a 3.8 non-weighted and 3.9 weighted GPA.
