Class of 2014 Profile Spotlight: Nick Allgeyer, a LHP/OF from Vianney

Nick Allgeyer has a long, projectable body that should translate well at the next level as he continues to mature physically. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound left-hander took good routes to the ball in the outfield, consistently staying behind the ball and keeping his momentum toward his target. He has a long loose arm and played through the ball with accurate throws (78 mph) to third and home.

At the plate, the left-handed hitter is quiet in the box with little wasted movement. He takes an economical bat path to the ball, bringing his hands through the zone with level extension through contact that produced line drives.

On the mound, the lefty comes from a ¾ arm slot and showed feel for three pitches; a 75-77 mph (topping out at 78 mph), a 66 mph breaking ball with two plane break, and a 72-73 mph change up with some late sink. Look for a spike in velocity as Allgeyer continues to progress.
