St. Louis Gamers Scout Day: 2019 Pitchers Analysis

Prep Baseball Report - Missouri held the St. Louis Gamers Scout Day on February 19 at All-Star Sports in St. Louis, Missouri.  Over 60 players attended the event in the 2022 to 2019 classes. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the 2019 Pitchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Josh Abel LHP / Desmet, MO / 2019

Able is a 6-foot-2 165-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Abel comes from a high three quarters arms lot, smooth and controlled down the mound, repeats simple delivery, throws strikes, throws with regular effort, in line down the mound, lean frame with plenty more in the tank in the future, fastball worked in the zone at 80-83 mph, arm side running action, breaking ball has 2-to-8 shape, occasionally sharp with late break, 72-76 mph, throws for a strike, change up at 74-76 mph, arm side sinking action, throws with fastball arm speed.

Carson Aycock RHP / OF / East Prairie, MO / 2019

Aycock is a strong 6-foot 187-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Aycock has a controlled delivery, throws with regular effort and smooth tempo, high three quarters arm slot, arm works, repeats delivery, high number of strikes, fastball at 82-84 mph, works to both sides of the plate, breaking ball has 11-ot-5 shape, 66-63 mph, lands for a strike, showed command of a change with slight sink, at 72-76 mph, fastball arm speed.

Geoffrey Camfield C / RHP / Chaminade, MO / 2019

Camfield is a 6-foot-2 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Camfield has a high leg lift, throws with regular effort, body stays under control, works in line down the mound, over the top arm slot, fastball at 79-83 mph, some with slight late two-seam action, breaking ball at 66-67 mph, 12-to-6 action, change up at 73-75 mph, arm side run, near fastball arm speed, shows command with all pitches.

Ryan Insco RHP / SS / Vianney, MO / 2019

Insco is a 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Insco has a low three quarters arm slot, hides ball closing off when he is set in the stretch position, works in line down the mound, falls off slightly to 3B at finish, fastball has arm side run, 79-81 mph, breaking ball has 10-to-4 sweeping shape, slider-type sweeping action, sinking change up a 65-68 mph, late action, lean frame, showed ability to repeat delivery, throws strikes, all pitches have movement.

Alex Leary RHP / 3B / Ladue Horton Watkins, MO / 2019

Leary is a 6-foot-2 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Leary has a drop and drive type delivery, short over the top arm slot, arm works, throws downhill with slight tilt, throws with regular effort and accelerated tempo as he releases, throws strikes fastball at 78-81 mph, curveball up at 66-67 mph, some with late break flashing depth, change up at 70-75 mph, occasional arm side sink, fastball arm speed.

Connor Milligan LHP / OF / Oakville , MO / 2019

Milligan is a 5-foot-9 173-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Milligan comes from a high three quarters arm slot, slight rotation at balance point, works from the 3B side of rubber, body stay under control, simple and repeatable delivery, fastball at 73-75 mph, some with late two-seam action, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, 55-58 mph, change up at 61-65 mph, slight arm side sink, throws three pitches in the zone.
