St. Louis Prospects Scout Day: Outfielders Analysis

On Sunday, September 23, Prep Baseball Report - Missouri held the St. Louis Prospects Scout Day at St. Louis University.  Over thirty players from the Prospects program attended in the 2022-2019 class. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the Outfielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Outfielders

Jericho Badwan LHP / OF / Fort Zumwalt West , MO / 2021

Badwan is a lean 5-foot-10 165-pound left handed hitting outfielder and pitcher in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.25 60 yard dash and a 4.34 home to first.  At the plate, Badwan starts open and has a controlled, consistent leg kick.  He uses somewhat of a double load with his hands to sync up with his leg kick and get into a good power position.  He has a very flat bat path and makes solid, consistent contact with a middle of the field approach, getting his exit velocity up to 81 mph.  In the outfield, Badwan showed a quick exchange at times with a high three quarter arm slot, getting his velocity up to 70 mph. 

Dwayne Daggs OF / OF / Francis Howell, MO / 2019

Daggs is a strong and athletic 5-foot-8 150-pound outfielder in the 2019 Missouri class.  Daggs runs a solid 7.06 60 and 4.55 home to first.  At the plate, Daggs has a slightly open and upright stance with low hands.  Quiet and controlled load to go with a flat bat path, Daggs gets up to 84 mph off of the bat.  In the outfield, he has good routes to the ball, working behind it to get off his 79 mph throws from a high three quarter release with good accuracy.

Daniel Flier OF / C / Christian Brothers College, MO / 2022

Flier is an athletic built 6-foot 175-pound left handed hitting outfielder and catcher in the 2022 Missouri class.  Flier runs a 7.64 60 and a 4.66 home to first.  At the plate, Flier has an open and upright set up bringing his front side slighty closed, has good rhythm with his hands as a timing mechanism to get into a good power position and attacks the baseball at an exit velocity of 82 mph.  He has a pull side approach and gets good extension.  From the outfield, Flier has an over the top arm angle and gets his velocity up to 75 mph, stops his momentum coming through the ball so there is potential for higher velocity with improved footwork.

Tanner Perry SS / RHP / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2021

Perry is a lean 6-foot 155-pound right handed hitting shortstop, outfielder and right handed pitcher in the Missouri 2021 class.  He ran a 8.0 60 and a 5.14 home to first.  At the plate, Perry has  square feet and uses a small leg kick and a minimal load with his hands.  He uses good rhythm and timing to get extended and hit balls out in front with an exit velocity of 79 mph.  In the outfield, Perry gets behind the ball and uses carries his momentum to his target, has a long arm action at a three quarters release point. 

Cameron Powell OF / Christian Brothers College, MO / 2020

Powell is an athletic 6-foot1 170-pound right handed hitting outfielder in the Missouri class of 2020.  Powell runs well, posting a 6.97 60 and 4.56 home to first.  At the plate, starts with a slightly closed front foot and low hands, he has good rhythm with his hands, a small leg kick and a slightly uphill bat path hitting balls with an 84 mph exit velocity.  Defensively, Powell moves well and works at putting himself in a good throwing position.  He has a long arm action with a high three quarters release, making throws at 67 mph.

Hunter Tabor OF / RHP / Francis Howell North, MO / 2019

Tabor is an athletic 5-foot-11 180-pound right handed hitting outfielder in Missouri's 2019 class.  He ran a 7.02 60 and a 4.63 home to first.  At the plate, Tabor has pop, hitting balls with a 95 mph exit velocity.  He has a slightly open and upright stance with hands starting at his shoulder.  Minimal load with the hands and a calm stride toward the mound.  He is aggressive to the ball showing good bat speed.  In the outfield, Tabor has a loose arm action with a high three quarters release and gets his velocity up to 89 mph.

Alex Vohsen 1B / LHP / Christian Brothers College, MO / 2020

Vohsen is a big and strong 6-foot-3 220-pound left handed hitting first baseman, outfielder and left handed pitcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 7.85 60 and a 4.83 home to first.  At the plate, Vohsen has pop, hitting balls at 95 mph exit velocity.  He starts with his feet close together and knees bent.  He has a small leg kick that is smooth to go along with a smooth load with his hands and takes aggressive swings attacking the baseball to the middle of the field.  In the outfield, Vohsen is clean with the glove, has a long arm action at a high three quarters release and a 76 mph velocity.

Brady Voss OF / OF / Wentzville Liberty , MO / 2019

Voss, a Missouri S&T commit, has an athletic build at 6-foot 173-pounds.  He is a right handed hitting outfielder in the 2019 Missouri class.  Voss runs well, posting a 6.82 60 and a 4.52 home to first.  At the plate, Voss starts slightly open and has good rhythm with his hands to go with a small leg kick.  He has good pop and stays on balls well with his head, hitting balls with 90 mph exit velocity.  In the outfield, he moves well and works behind the ball.  He has a long, over the top arm action and gets good carry on his throws at 90 mph.

Langston Williams 1B / RHP / Francis Howell Central , MO / 2021

Williams is a 6-foot-1 203 pound right handed hitting outfielder and first baseman and right handed pitcher in the Missouri 2021 class.  Williams ran a 7.67 60 and a 4.86 home to first.  At the plate, he has a strong build and a simple approach with some pop, hitting balls at 87 mph exit velocity.  He starts square and has minimal movement with his front foot and his hands and pulls his chest back on his finish, allowing his hands to get through the baseball.  In the outfield, Williams attacks the ball with good routes and works through the ball on to make his throws at 69-76 mph at a high three quarters arm slot.  On the infield, he has a clean and quick exchange and a long arm action throwing balls 77 mph.
