Top 10 Profiles of 2022: No. 5 Ty Thompson

Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri

With the year coming to an end, our staff is taking some time to highlight and reflect on the most viewed profiles in Missouri throughout 2022. We’ll be working our way to the top spot, starting with No. 10 earlier last week and working our way down, releasing the most viewed name on New Year’s Eve.

Our profiles serve as an all-in-one platform for players, hosting vendors such as verified stats, event video, contact information, and more. To create a free PBR profile, click HERE.

Today, INF Ty Thompson (Rock Bridge, 2025; Tennessee) checks in at fifth on our most viewed profiles this year. Thompson, the state’s top-ranked sophomore prospect, has long been a name-to-know in this class, particularly on a national scale.

Thompson really started to turn heads at the PBR Junior Future Games in 2021, blazing to a 6.57 60-yard dash at 14 years old. He starred at LakePoint on a talented Team Missouri squad, committing to SEC powerhouse Tennessee not long after. Then, he started as a freshman on a Rock Bridge team that won 29 games and came one victory away from a state playoff appearance, falling to eventual runner-up Blue Springs South in the District Championship.

Thompson solidified his status as one of the nation’s top prospects for his class - a sentiment that proves true over a year down the road, as he’s currently slotted at No. 40 overall on our national rankings. We highlighted him inside a rankings update piece in August, having this to say:

“…who’s one of the nation’s highest regarded prospects for the 2025 class. A wiry athlete with physical projection left to come, Thompson was a standout at the PBR Junior Future Games last year, committing to SEC powerhouse Tennessee a few months afterwards. Thompson’s athleticism is his calling card and he’s certainly proven that to us already in his amateur career, running a 6.57 laser timed 60-yard dash at LakePoint last summer as a 14-year-old. He generates easy bat speed at the plate and already drives the ball with authority, leaving plenty to dream on as he continues to grow into his frame. Thompson’s advanced defensively as well, serving as an up-the-middle asset right now and profiling to stick there down the road, too. He’s also a follow on the mound, where his fastball has already pitched into the upper-80s from a loose, easy arm slot. Expect Thompson to be towards the top of this board throughout his entire prep career.”

Thompson seems like the type of prospect to be towards the top of Missouri’s state rankings throughout his prep career and certainly garner attention nationally, too. He’ll look to grow off this productive year in 2023 and we’re eager to see his progress this upcoming season.
