Unsigned Senior Showcase: Statistical Analysis

On Monday, we published our rapid analysis following the event in our Quick Hits post, but today we’ll focus on the day’s stand-out performers, from a statistical perspective. For a look at the .pdf file of all of the showcase’s recorded statistics, CLICK HERE.

Wisconsin’s INF Logan Mantz (Slinger) was one of the better performers, statistically, on the day. He came away from the showcase with the hardest recorded exit velocity and was near the top of the leaderboard in velocity across the diamond among infielders. This combination has made him one of the top remaining seniors still on the market in Wisconsin’s 2019 class.

From Illinois, OF/SS Peter Fusek (Home school) found his way atop or near the top of several leaderboards, including the 60-yard dash, outfield velocity, and exit velo. The catchers leaderboards were comprised of exclusively Illinois talent and Bret Bushka (Glenbard East) was near the top spot of both. He was the quickest backstop from behind the plate – his 2.00 best pop time was also an event best. Bushka trailed only Providence Catholic’s Tyler Struck in catcher velocity, too, by just one tick.

On the mound, RHP Zak Gould (Joliet Catholic) produced the firmest fastball by a three-tick margin. He came into this event as one of the highest-ranked uncommitted prospects in the state and substantiated that reputation with his bullpen session.
