Diamond Notes: 3/12 - 3/18

The 2018 high school season is well underway, as teams head into their third week of play. Yesterday, 2018 OF/LHP Bailee Hendon (Vancleave HS) was named the Player of the Week for March 12th – March 18th. This week’s decision was a tough one, as there were several worthy nominees for the honor. We take a look at the other nominations sent in by coaches around the state in this week’s Diamond Notes.
+ Mississippi State signee, Bryce Brock (Lewisburg HS) was 10-for-18 with two home runs, two triples, and a double. Brock collected ten RBIs and scored eight runs over a four game stretch. Additionally, Brock logged four innings on the mound and recorded a win, striking out five while only allowing one hit and one unearned run.
+ Malcolm Beaugez (Ocean Springs HS) went 6-for-10 with two doubles, two homeruns and eleven runs batted in. Beugez is now hitting .447 on the season with five doubles, two homeruns and 16 RBI.
+ Walker Ladner (Florence HS) was 10-for-12, hitting .833, which included four singles, five doubles, and a homerun. Ladner tallied five RBI and five runs scored also walking five times. Additionally he also recorded a win on the mound pitching for five innings, allowing no hits while striking out ten.
+ Jones County JC signee, Cade Killingsworth (North Pike HS) threw a no hit shut out in seven innings pitched with eleven strikeouts. Killingsworth also went 4-for-4 at the plate with one walk, three doubles, three runs batted in and two runs scored.
+ Northeast MS CC signee, Mason McBride (Ripley HS) was 9-for-12 with one double, three RBI’s and two stolen bases.
+ Nick Skaggs (Biloxi HS) hit .583 posting an OPS of 1.625 with three doubles, and a triple. Skaggs recorded six RBI's and seven Runs Scored.
+ Channing Barkley (Booneville HS) hit .471 on the week with an OPS of 1.160, posting eight hits with six runs batted in.
+ 2020 Alan Kivett (Warren Central HS) threw a no hitter in seven innings of work recroding nine strikeouts and allowed one walk.
