The 2018 high school season is well underway, as teams head into their third week of play. Yesterday, 2018 C Luke Hancock (Houston) was named the Player of the Week for March 19th  – March 25th. This week’s decision was a tough one, as there were several worthy nominees for the honor. We take a look at the other nominations sent in by coaches around the state in this week’s Diamond Notes.

+ Alan Kivett (Warren Central) threw a complete game shutout allowing two hits and no walks while striking out eleven. 

+ Ben Luckett (Yazoo County) went five-for-seven with three singles, a triple, a double, seven RBI, two walks and two runs scored. 

+ Tyler Dobson (Petal) recorded five hits in eight at-bats where he posted two doubles, five RBI, three HBP and two walks. Tyler is now hitting .406 on the season.

+ SS Conner Davis (Booneville) posted an OPS of 1.203 with seven hits, six runs scored and five stolen bases.

+ Elijah Watts (Ressurrection Catholic) was 6-for-10 at the plate with three doubles and a homerun, driving in a total of eight runs. 

+ Reece Moore (Ripley) went three-for-seven with nine RBIs, one homerun and three walks.  Moore also struck out three in one inning of relief. 

+ INF/RHP Dre McCray (Water Valley) posted six runs batted in on a total of three homeruns. On the mound, McCray allowed two earned runs while punching out four.

+ Josh Bailey (Madison St. Joseph) threw a complete game posting 13 strikeouts while also going two-for-four at the plate with a home run.
