The 2018 high school season is well underway, as teams head into their third week of play. Yesterday, 2019 RHP Ben Ethridge (West Lauderdale) was named the Player of the Week for March 26th  – April 1st. This week’s decision was a tough one, as there were several worthy nominees for the honor. We take a look at the other nominations sent in by coaches around the state in this week’s Diamond Notes.

+ Jeremy Washington (Port Gibson) pitched for five innings allowing two hits, one run while striking out fourteen.

+ Aimon Chisholm (Magee) went 5 for 8 with two singles, a double, a triple and a grandslam. Posting six runs batted in with two walks.

+ Alex Williams (Alcorn Central) finished the week eight for thirteen with two homers including a grand slam, two doubles and eight RBI. Williams also recorded a win on the mound logging five innings of work allowing five hits and zero earned runs.

+ Ben Fryar (Ripley) went nine-for-ten with two doubles, one triple, and seven RBI with two walks.

+ Dylan Pylant (Petal) went 6 for 10 with a double, a homer, three runs batted in, and one walk.
