Last Chance Senior Showcase: Quick Hits

The Last Chance Senior Showcase took place on Saturday May 6th, on the campus of East Central Community College. The open event saw fifteen players from all across Mississippi perform in front of college coaches and the PBR Scouting Staff.

Today we look at several notable performances from last week’s event.

 Now a Holmes CC signee, Elijah Bryson (Germantown) moved with smooth footwork, athletic actions with an accurate arm across the diamond. The right-handed hitter showed a balanced approach at the plate with short stroke producing hard ground ball line drive contact.

Alfred Barnes (Vicksburg) athletic framed right handed hitting outfielder that worked through balls well with smooth footwork and receptive hands. Produced accurate throws from a long arm stroke that produced an 80 mph positional velocity. Barnes also ran a 7.15 60-yard dash. 

Jacob Compton (DeSoto Central) left-handed hitting first baseman showed a balanced approach with a rotational swing and strength to the pull side, recorded an event high 93 mph exit velocity. At first moved with active feet as he worked into athletic fielding position with receptive hands out front.

Jordan Rand (Terry) posted an event best 60-time running a 6.95. As a defender, Rand moved with deliberate footwork working into an athletic fielding position.

Reyes Willis (Choctaw Central) a right-handed hitting middle infielder showed a loose rhythm at the plate with leverage through the zone. From a tall, stack setup and knee-to-knee load, Willis was able to blast line-drives as he consistently found barrel with a whippy stroke.

Chase Yearwood (Hartfield) is a right handed hitting catcher that displayed solid arm strength with accurate throws on the bag posting a 74 mph positional velocity with a pop time ranging 1.96-2.07. At the plate, Yearwood displayed a balanced approach with present strength in swing producing an exit velocity of 89 mph.

Sam Brooks (Madison-Ridgeland Acadmey) starts from a closed setup with fluid, repeatable delivery. Two pitch mix with fastball sitting 77-79 mph that showed solid arm side run and sinking action, combined with a 68-69 mph slider that had swiping action. Displayed feel to command both pitches in the zone.

Dylan Ramsey (Picayune) pitched 81-84 mph with his fastball. The right-hander has a smooth, fluid delivery and a medium build at 5-foot-11, 200-pounds. His slider came in at 68-72 mph with 11/4 shape. Ramsey also flashed a 74-77 mph changeup and scattered the zone with all three pitches
