MS Diamond Notes: Week 4

The Mississippi Diamond Notes is a new feature for 2023 that will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.

For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Mississippi Diamond Notes.

Hank Eaton RHP / SS / Kossuth, MS / 2024The Auburn commit had a great outing this week for Kossuth going 6 innings, allowing just 2 hits, 0 runs, while striking out 13 hitters. Eaton is a former PBR Future Games participant and one of the top dual threat prospects in the south. |

Andrew Williams SS / RHP / Alcorn Central , MS / 2024The Alcorn Central standout and dual prospect threw a 5 inning CG, allowing 2 hits, while striking out 10. Williams improved to 2-0 with 25 strikeouts in just 13 innings for the Bears. He is also hitting .407 with 2 home runs and 11 rbi's on the young season. |

Kyler King SS / OF / Picayune, MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 6
The athletic King had a great week hitting .384 with a double and 4 runs batted in and picked up a save the hard way going 3 innings, allowing 0 runs, while striking out 5 hitters. King is a Pearl River CC recruit. |

Cade Clinton C / 1B / Sumrall, MS / 2024Clinton continued his hot start for the Bobcats by hitting .428 for the week with 2 home runs, 5 walks, and 9 runs batted in. The uncommitted junior is now leading Sumrall with a .433 average with 3 home runs and 16 rbi's. |

Rolen Fanning OF / RHP / St. Andrew's Episcopal School, MS / 2024The St. Andrew's junior had a very productive week for the Saints going 6 for 11 with 4 runs, and 4 runs batted in. On the young season Fanning is now hitting .350 with 8 rbi's through 12 games. |

Logan Buckley LHP / Columbia Academy, MS / 2026The talented dual prospect threw 6 innings, allowing 1 run, while striking out 12 in his most recent start. Buckley now has 38 strikeouts in just 20 innings of work for the Cougars. |

Doc McLaurin / Florence, MS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 129 / POS: 8
The uncommitted McLaurin had a solid week for Florence going 5 for 7 (.714) with 4 singles and a double and is now hitting .405 with 3 home runs and 8 runs batted in for the Eagles. |

Reise Thomas LHP / 1B / Florence, MS / 2023The Copiah Lincoln CC recruit hit .500 last week with 2 doubles, a triple, and 4 runs batted in. The senior leads Florence with a .421 average through 13 games on the season. |

Cam Abbott RHP / North Pontotoc, MS / 2025The sophomore threw a 7 inning complete game shutout last week, allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 10 hitters. |

Callan Baldwin OF / St. Andrew's, MS / 2024Baldwin had a productive week for St. Andrew's as he went had 6 hits in 9 at bats, scoring 3 runs, and driving in 6. The junior is now hitting .400 with 14 rbi's on the season for the Saints. |

Jackson Gamber RHP / Sacred Heart, MS / 2025The sophomore picked up 2 wins for the Crusaders last week in 7 innings of work, allowing only 3 hits, while striking out 9 opposing hitters.

Dylan Welter SS / RHP / Pass Christian , MS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 128 / POS: 15
The Millsaps College recruit and dual threat tossed 6 innings with 10 strikeouts for the Pirates and went 4 for 5 with 3 walks. The senior is now hitting .483 on the year for Pass Christian with a 1.27 ERA in 11 innings of work. |

Peyton Lacy RHP / 3B / Pass Christian , MS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 8
The Southern Mississippi signee hit .455 on the week with 5 runs batted in for the Pirates. Lacy is now hitting .351 on the year with 16 runs batted in. |

Brendan Necaise RHP / 1B / Pass Christian, MS / 2025Sophomore Brendan Necaise struck out 9 hitters over 4 innings this past week and now has 24 strikeouts in 13 innings of work for Pass Christian. |
