Stock Watch: Unsigned Seniors

Today, Prep Baseball Report Mississippi takes a look at three uncommitted 2018’s that have had solid 2017 summer campaigns, improving their recruiting stock. Throughout the summer and fall Prep Baseball Report has been on the road scouting select ball tournaments, college showcases, in addition to its own summer events.

While there has been several top prospect in the 2018 class to commit, there are still some impressive players who will make an impact on the next level.These uncommitted seniors have showcased their talents over the course of the summer, on a national and state level, showing their ability to be quality players on the next level.

Let’s dive into the three 2018’s that are having solid 2017 summers:       

+ Brendan Hardy, RHP/SS, Harrison Central (2018)
Currently ranked No. 51 in Mississippi 2018 class. Athletic 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame with room for projection. Right-handed pitcher throwing from high- ¾ release, with solid balance, and regular effort in delivery. Short, live arm action, fluid rhythm with level shoulders, in-line direction landing square, and working around front side. Over the course of the summer his fastball has sat 85-88 mph with life, touching 90 mph. Breaking ball showed 11/5-shape with near fastball arm speed at 73-76 mph.

+ Chance Denson, RHP, West Lauderdale (2018)
Currently ranked No. 4 in Mississippi 2018 class. A 6-foot-3, 210-pound athletic, projectable frame. The right-hander works from a high-3/4 slot with a clean, loose, quick arm action. Delivery is repeatable, with in-line direction, and good stride distance down the mound. Fastball sat 88-90 mph and touched 91 mph several times with good arm side action. Showed a quality breaking ball with late action at 72-74 mph, and was an out pitch for him when command down in the zone.

+ Connor Carter, OF/RHP, Germantown (2018)
Currently ranked No. 39 in Mississippi 2018 class. Lean, athletic 6-foot, 175-pound frame with room for added strength . Left-handed hitter hits from a tall, balanced, athletic setup, works backwards in load with simple rhythm and short stride. Gap-to-gap approach with short stroke, slight uphill path, fluid rhythm and proportional strength. Outfielder that takes direct routes with soft hands, short, smooth footwork, making clean exchanges while playing through ball athletically.
