Mississippi Preseason All-State: Outfielder Reports

Madison, MS - The Mississippi Preseason All-State was held Saturday, January 21st at the Southern Performance Institute in Madison, MS. This was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2023-2026 classes. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 30 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Saturday.

Continuing off our post-event coverage for these events, we take a look at each outfielder that attended either of the events. Check back tomorrow as we conclude our post-event coverage by taking a look at each pitcher in attendance.

Cayden Prestage, Itawamba (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-8, 165-pounds. Well developed lower half, athletic.
Hits: LHH. Tall, open and balanced stance with higher handset. Small, controlled load and stride with a level bat path. Great hands with a solid all fields, line drive approach. One of the top hitters in the 2026 class
Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 81.3 MPH. 322' max distance.
Arm: LH. OF-92 mph. Loose, quick arm action
Defense: Polished look in outfield. Easily approaches ground balls. Fields out front to glove side with strong accurate arm.

Gardner Young, Jackson Prep (MS), 2025
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 6-1, 170-pounds. Lean and athletic frame, high waisted and wiry look.
Hits: LHH. Conventional, balanced stance with slightly higher than normal hand set. Smooth load and stride. Some launch to swing path with middle to pull side approach. Solid upside at the plate.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 75.9 MPH. 288' max distance.
Arm: LH. OF-91 mph. Very quick and loose arm action
Defense: Advanced approach with footwork to ground balls. Fields outfront to glove side. Very strong accurate arm from the outfield.

Jon Grey Morrisson, West Union (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/C
Body: 6-6, 205-pounds. Strong lower half, well developed frame, athletic.
Hits: RHH. Narrow, open stance with slight crouch. High hand set and tight Small controlled load with longer stride. Attacks the baseball out front with aggression though sometimes lunges onto front leg. Middle to pull side approach.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 85.1 MPH. 339' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-88 mph. Shorter, quick arm action
Defense: Advanced approach with footwork to ground balls. Fields out front to glove side. Strong, accurate arm.

Jackson White, Wayne Academy (MS), 2024, (Pearl River CC)
Positional Profile: OF/OF
Body: 6-3, 195-pounds. Long limbs, lean and athletic.
Hits: RHH. Tall, open stance with higher handset. Small, slow load with slight upper body lean into longer stride. Upward bat path with aggression into contact. Quick hands and looking to pull.
Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 92.8 MPH. 336' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-88 mph. Very quick arm action

Miller Finn, Pontotoc (MS), 2026

Hits: LHH. Wider stance with bat resting on shoulder. Big load as hands move into slot with leverage. Toe tap into stride. Level bat path with middle to pull side line drive approach.

Calvin Robinson, Northwest Rankin (MS), 2024

Body: 6-2, 220-pounds. Athletic and proportional frame, long limbs.
Hits: SH. Switch hitter. (Left) Tall, balanced, slightly open stance with high hand set. (Right) Slightly wider and more open from the right side. (Left) Small, quick load with knee lift into stride. Looks to make contact out front with aggression and upward bat path. Pull side approach. (Right) Smoother load and stride from right side though feet can get a little unbalanced some during swing. More of a middle of the field approach from the right side.

Hits: LHH. Wider stance, slightly open with conventional hand set. Smooth load and short stride with rhythm in his hands. Slightly upward bat path with pull side approach. Quick bat with whip!

Defense: Very polished look in outfield. Easily approaches ground balls. Fields out front to glove side with strong accurate arm.

Davin Lowery, Wayne Academy (MS), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/3B
Body: 6-5, 180-pounds. Long limbs, athletic, wiry.
Delivery: Quicker though smooth and repeatable deliver. Could get a little longer into stride though very good with direction.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action.
FB: T82, 81-82 mph. Very good arm side action. Tough pitch when on inner half of zone to righties. T1898, 1776 average rpm.
CB: 69-69 mph. Good shape though still developing command. T2233, 2209 average rpm.
SL: 69-69 mph. T2197, 2197 average rpm.
CH: 74-75 mph. Solid pitch with good fading action. T1469, 1279 average rpm.

Dawson Muenzenmay, Northwest Rankin (MS), 2023, (Hinds CC)

Body: 6-1, 185-pounds. High waisted frame, athletic and lean look. Can add some size to the frame.
Hits: RHH. Wide stance, slight preset load, hands inside back shoulder. Smooth, controlled loas and stride. Closes off some during stride. Slightly upward bat path with a middle of the field approach.

Hits: RHH. Tall, balanced stance with some rhythm in hands. Small load with toe tap into stride. Lots of hand movement though they silence into swing path. Some aggression into contact. Slightly upward bat path with pull side approach.

Hits: LHH. Wider, balanced stance with conventional hand set. Big load and stride with knee lift. Lots of aggression into contact with loft in swing. Looks to pull with more power coming as body continues to mature.
