NPI: 2023 Notebook
June 24, 2021
The annual National Program Invitational, at Lakepoint, brings together elite programs from across the country to perform in four different age groups. An elite stage to kickoff the summer, the NPI is a one-stop-shop for college coaches and professional scouts, alike, to see the top prep talent in the country. The teams and players more than delivered to make the 2021 NPI another stellar experience with energy flowing through the facility from the first pitch on Thursday morning through the last on Sunday night. Below, a look at 15 players in the 2023 class that made an impact on Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt’s, look while at Lakepoint.
Roch Cholowsky SS / 3B / Hamilton , AZ / 2023Cholowsky, a UCLA recruit, looked the part of a field general all weekend, and possesses some “it factor” with the ability to come up big in big spots. The QB1 at Arizona prep power, Hamilton, was unafraid of the big moment and found comfort hitting in all counts, getting off quality swings regularly against some premium arms. Loading fluidly from a relaxed and athletic setup, Cholowsky demonstrated an ability to change planes and adjust, and the accuracy of the barrel stood out along with the power potential that will continue to be approached as he fills out a lean, 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame. Playing most of his time at third base, his naturally-gifted hands and strong arm should allow him to play any spot on the dirt, including shortstop, and things just seem to come easy to him in-game.
