Stock Watch: Unsigned Seniors

Today, Prep Baseball Report Mississippi takes a look at three uncommitted 2018’s that have had solid spring and summer campaigns, improving their recruiting stock. Throughout the year Prep Baseball Report has been on the road scouting select ball tournaments, college showcases, in addition to its own summer events.

While there has been several top prospects in the 2018 class to commit, there are still some impressive players who will make an impact on the next level. These uncommitted seniors have showcased their talents over the course of the spring and summer, on a national and state level, showing their ability to be quality players on the next level.

Let’s dive into the three unsigned 2018’s:       

+ Chance Denson, RHP, West Lauderdale, 2018
Currently ranked No. 4 in Mississippi 2018 class. A 6-foot-3, 210-pound athletic, projectable frame. The right-hander works from a high-3/4 slot with a clean, loose, quick arm action. Delivery is repeatable, with in-line direction, and good stride distance down the mound. Fastball sat 88-90 mph and touched 91 mph several times with good arm side action. Showed a quality breaking ball with late action at 72-74 mph, and was an out pitch for him when command down in the zone.


+ Preston Johnson, RHP, Copiah Academy, 2018
Currently ranked No. 68 in Mississippi 2018 class. With a strong, physical frame, Johnson sat 86-87 mph in bullpen from a high-3/4 release and easy arm action. He also showed a breaking ball with developing action at 71-72 mph and a changeup with developing command.

+ Khristian Washington, 3B, Madison Central, 2018
Currently ranked No. 69 in Mississippi 2018 class. A thick 5-foot-10, 200-pound frame with potential for added strength. Washington has tall setup with rhythm in hands, short and quite leg lift landing balanced and on time. Displayed short and direct path, on a level plane with solid bat speed and strength in swing.
