With the 2019 season quickly approaching, today, the Prep Baseball Report Mississsippi scouting staff highlights three 2019 infielders that are still looking for an opportunity to continue their careers.

 

Brian Johnson SS / 2B / Ridgeland , MS / 2019

Wiry 5-foot-8,150-pound frame with room for added strength. Showed nice actions at shortstop, with smooth footwork, mid-line exchange, clean transfers, and accurate throws to first that produced a positional velocity of 83 mph. Right-handed hitter starting from a tall, relaxed setup. Simple rhythm before taking a toe tap loading with short stride and balance throughout. The path worked on slight uphill path through the zone posting an exit velocity of 82 mph. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash.

Thomas Milam SS / 2B / Ridgeland , MS / 2019

Athletic 5-foot-9, 175-pound frame. Defensively handled the ball well in the middle of the field playing light on his feet, flashing an accurate arm across the diamond, recording a positional velocity of 79 mph. Offensively has a simple rhythm in load with good lag through the zone showing a ground ball/line drive approach posting an exit velocity of 84 mph. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash.

Alex Bolling 3B / RHP / Oak Grove, MS / 2019

Physical 6-foot-1, 217-pound frame. A right-handed hitter, he has a balanced setup, simple load, loose hands, short stride with solid lower half use. Slight uphill path, line-drive approach with fluid rhythm and strength in swing producing an exit velocity of 92 mph. Defender worked through balls well with smooth footwork and receptive hands. Slow clean exchange into a slow-¾ release recording a 74 mph infield velocity. Record a 7.78 60-yard dash.
