Top Prospect Games Underclass: Quick Hits (2027's)
October 30, 2023
STARKVILLE, MS - The Top Prospect Games: Underclass was held on Saturday, October 28th at Dudy Noble Field on the campus of the Mississippi State University. This event was an invite-only event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2026-2027 classes across all parts of Mississippi. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated outings during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.
Kicking off our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at some of the top performers and standouts from Saturday. Continuing over the course of the next week or so, we will release different statistical leaderboards for the event along with other pieces of content.

+ Tre Adcox INF / Brandon / 2027
The left-handed hitting Adcox continues his progression with more power each time we see him. He uses a line drive, mostly pull side approach, though, with added strength those liners could eventually find the other side of the wall very often. Adcox’s exit velocities this past weekend in Starkville reached up to 95 mph. He also plays solid defense, carrying a strong, accurate arm (85 mph across the diamond) and could end up locking down a spot on the left side of the infield at the next level.

+ Landon Swinney OF / Tupelo / 2027
The stocky, athletic infielder from Tupelo had a very consistent workout with next level tools in all areas. Swinney runs well, shows good range on the dirt and uses a strong, accurate arm which reached 84 mph across the diamond. Swinney also connected on a homer to left field in his first at bat during game play on Saturday.

+ Caden Cole INF/RHP / Warren Central / 2027
Our first look at Cole came this weekend and the long limbed infielder from Warren Central definitely looks the part. As his body matures, look for all of his metrics to increase, though they are solid presently. Cole had a solid round during batting practice with a pull side approach and power on the way. Cole also has dual prospect ability with loose arm action, a fluid delivery, and a fastball that already reaches into the 80’s.

+ Cody Pigford INF / West Lauderdale / 2027
Pigford had some good at bats during gameplay on Saturday showing a very quick bat and future power potential. The third baseman from West Lauderdale used a pull side approach with multiple line drives. On defense, Pigford uses soft hands and strong arm (81 mph) and should develop into a very sure handed corner guy.

+ Crews Albritton OF/LHP / Tri-County Academy / 2027
Mega power potential coming from this bat! The left handed stick from Tri-County Academy had exit velocities up to 98 mph on Saturday during batting practice and carried it over into game play with a couple of barrels as well. Albritton can also pitch, using a fastball into the low 80’s and developing breaking ball. Big time follow!

+ Mason Ballard C/3B / Tupelo / 2027
Ballard was a PBR Junior Future Games representative this past summer and continues to progress very nicely, solidifying himself as one of the top catching prospects in the 2027 class. Ballard turned in a 1.91 pop time on Saturday at Dudy Noble with a 79 mph arm from behind the plate. He also had an impressive batting practice round with multiple pull side line drives and in game liners as well.

+ Ayden Dartez C / Saint Stanislaus / 2027
We got our first look at Dartez this weekend and the receiver from the coast did not disappoint. Behind the plate Dartez had solid footwork with pop times in the 2.02 - 2.13 range, and a still developing arm. In the box the right hander used the middle of the field well with a solid line drive approach and more strength on the way.

+ Rece Atkinson RHP/INF / Leake Academy / 2027
Another former Junior Future Games player with plenty of present ability and eyes on the next level. Atkinson uses a running fastball in the 83-86 mph range and gets tons of weak contact. He also uses a developing slider and changeup that will make him a very attractive recruit in the near future. He’s yet another possible dual prospect with solid upside on the infield as well and a line drive, all fields approach at the plate.
+ Parker Orr RHP/OF / Jackson Academy / 2027
Orr is another 2027 arm that should continue to gain velocity as a result of overall body maturity. The righty from Jackson Academy uses his 6-2, 155 pound frame to generate fastball velocities into the low 80’s currently but we expect that to rise progressively over time. Orr also has good feel for his breaking ball that produces spin rates near 2500 rpm’s. He’s also yet another dual prospect from the 27’ class, as he has some upside as an outfielder as well and had a solid batting practice round on Saturday with low 90’s exit velocities and plenty of line drives in the middle of the diamond.

+ Deuce Jenkins 1B/OF / Northwest Rankin / 2027
The freshman from Northwest Rankin has elite power potential and added some towering fly balls during game play on Saturday, narrowly missing 2 home runs at The Dude. Jenkins runs decent and should get faster which may see him settle into an outfield position a little more regularly than first base. His ability at the plate will get him the lineup though as he should find himself in the middle of the order with expectations to produce. Jenkins had an event high 98.2 exit velocity with even more power on the way and plenty of loft to his swing.
