PITCHERS

Adam Laskey, 2019, LHP (Duke)
Left-handed starter with a strong, athletic frame at six-foot-three, 205 pounds. Compact arm action to a three-quarter release point produces above average arm speed. Repeats simple delivery, landing soft and on-line with good balance and extension out front. Best pitch is a plus changeup. Deceptive, thrown with fastball arm speed. Consistent swing/miss out pitch at 81-84 mph and hard sink. Fastball ranged from 89-92 mph, mostly 90. Sat 88-89 in the fifth inning. Average life with near average control. On this day showed little feel for a 78-80 mph curveball, well below average pitch. However, I saw it much better this spring. Overall, Laskey is a near three-pitch lefty with a starter delivery, arm action, frame and athleticism. Will likely receive early round consideration next June.
