2022 Junior Future Games: Team Carolina (NC) Game 2 Recap

The 2022 Junior Future Games are underway at LakePoint in Emerson, GA featuring some of the top 2026 and 2027 prospects from across the country. Team Carolina kicked off their Junior Future Games with a workout on Tuesday. The workout day consisted of a full pro-style workout with players taking BP on the field with Trackman capturing ball flight data, a defensive workout, and players running a laser timed 60. Team Carolina will take on Texas, Canada, and Mississippi in their pool play action with bracket play to follow. 

GAME 2 RECAP

Game 2: Team Carolina- 2  Team Canada- 7

Team Carolina faced off against Team Canada in Game 2 of pool play. Canada would take an early lead and never look back. The Team Carolina offense was highlighted by Michael Woodard, Ethan Gilchirst, Noah Price and Meridian Leffew. Price and Woodard had a hit each, while Price and Gilchrist each had RBI’s, Leffew used his aggressive baserunning to help the Carolina offense create a run. Lefthander Jeter Bynum tossed a scoreless inning on the mound. Carolina will take on Mississippi in its final game of pool play on Friday Morning. 


Player Notes

Michael Woodard, 1B/OF, 2026

6-foot-3, 175-pound frame. Left hand hitter. Barreled a ball to center for a base knock. Balanced at the plate, hits with a sturdy base and feel for the barrel. Competes throughout his at bats. Aggressive on the bases adding a stolen base after his hit. 

Jeter Bynum, LHP, 2026

5-foot-10, 141-pound frame. Worked a scoreless inning in relief recording two strikeouts. Fastball worked mostly at 76-78 mph topping at 79 mph. Showed trust in his fastball during his inning of work. 

Carter Huffman, SS/RHP, 2026

5-foot-8, 151-pound frame with quickness present. Punched out 2 in 1.2 innings of relief work. Showed some feel for getting his fastball to the bottom of the zone with some down angle. Fastball sat mostly at 75-76 mph. Mixed in a breaking ball at 58-60 mph.
