2022 Junior Future Games: Team Carolina (NC) Game 5 Recap

The 2022 Junior Future Games are underway at LakePoint in Emerson, GA featuring some of the top 2026 and 2027 prospects from across the country. Team Carolina kicked off their Junior Future Games with a workout on Tuesday. The workout day consisted of a full pro-style workout with players taking BP on the field with Trackman capturing ball flight data, a defensive workout, and players running a laser timed 60. Team Carolina will take on Texas, Canada, and Mississippi in their pool play action with bracket play to follow. 


Team Carolina- 4  Team Tennessee- 9

Team Carolina would put together a strong performance against Tennessee in its final game of the 2022 Junior Future Games. Carolina got another strong pitching performance on Sunday from Jeter Bynum. The lefty worked 3.2 innings, giving Carolina a chance to win. The Carolina offense continued to swing the bats well getting multiple hits from Michael Woodard and Meridian Leffew with Tucker Payton, Wyatt Lytle, Carter Huffman, and Jake Hunter adding a hit each. 


Player Notes

Jeter Bynum, LHP, 2026

5-foot-10, 141-pound frame. Started on the mound working 3.2 innings and striking out 3. Fastball worked mostly in the 75-77 mph range early. Occasionally flashed a breaking ball at 66-67 mph spinning up to 2600 rpms. Located his fastball to his arm side showing feel for the bottom of the zone. Fastball has some run to his arm side. Clean arm action who should see his stuff rise as his frame adds strength. 

Carter Huffman, CF. 2026

Quickness in a 5-foot-8, 151-pound frame. LIned a ball to left for an extra base hit. Hands are quick with a mostly direct path to the ball. Made a diving catch coming in on a ball while playing center. 

Tucker Payton, 3B, 2026

6-foot-1, 185-pound build. Left hand hitter. Barreled a ball through the 6-hole in a left on left situation and drove another ball deep to center. Controlled leg lift with fluidity to his swing, hands have strength while keeping his barrel long through the zone out front. 

Meridian Leffew, SS, 2026

6-foot, 160-pound frame. Showed feel for the barrel shooting a ground ball through the 4 hole, lined another ball to left for a base knock. Balanced swing with quick hands while continuing to be aggressive to pitches in the zone. 

Michael Woodard, 1B/OF, 2026

6-foot-3, 175-pound frame. The left hand hitter stayed inside 2 balls hitting them to the opposite field for base hits. Balanced swing with a short path to the ball and feel for the barrel. Tracked a ball making a play while charging in and to the line while playing right field.  

Jake Hunter, IF/OF, 2026

Long, lanky frame at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds. Barreled a ball to center for a line drive base hit. Hands are quick with a short path to the ball and feel for the barrel. Aggressive in the box with a balanced approach. Moves well in the outfield.
