Area IV American Legion Scout Day - Quick Hitters

Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

Prep Baseball Report held workouts with Area IV American Legion players on June 10th and 11th.  These workouts were designed to give players in the American Legion system a way to connect with college coaches and professional scouts through a pro-style workout.  As PBR continues to grow, similar opportunities are available for club teams and American Legion organizations across North Carolina.

The Area IV workouts produced several prospects with good numbers.  In the coming week, PBR will break down some of the performances from the workouts.  In the mean time, we will look at some quick notes from the event and the players in attendance.

Area IV American Legion - Quick Hitters

+ Bryce Stober (Hickory HS, C, 2019) worked out at multiple positions recording a sixty time of 6.82 and an outfield positional velocity of 85 mph.  A catcher by trait, Stob plays with a high motor and is a true utility player that will give a roster some flexibility in the future.

+ Seth Moore (Bunker Hill HS, OF, 2020) ran a 6.98 sixty.  Think frame at 6-foot-3, 155 pounds, strength is still coming but quickness is present.  Average carry from the outfield at 85 mph out of the hand, translated to 79 mph on the bump.

+  Noah Eaker (Cherryville HS, RHP, 2017) was an intriguing prospect in the 2017 class at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds.  The big righty helped Cherryville to a state title before some arm issues detoured his senior season.  He looks to be completely healthy as he is back on the market looking for a home. Sitting 81-82, the big curveball catches the eye with late downer action at 62-63.  Eaker also showed an exit velocity of 89 mph from the right side.

+ Brantley Durham (Newton-Conover HS, C, 2019) has a thick build, with strength, at 6-foot, 195 pounds.  The strength translates to the bat where the exit velocity peaked at 90mph. Theh big fella worked behind the plate presenting an easy target and flashing accuracy throwing to 2B with pop times ranging 2.19 - 2.28.

A full statistical look will come out on Tuesday with select player evaluations posting later in the week.
