Arms Shine at Region X Showcase

Matt Payne
North Carolina Director of Scouting

PBR was on hand for day 3 of the Region X Fall JUCO Showcase at Campbell University.  Featured below are some players from Pitt CC, Florence-Darlington Tech CC, and Wake Tech CC.

Pitchers may have had a slight advantage, throwing 1 inning apiece and airing it out for college coaches and scouts in attendance, leading to a pitching heavy scout blog below.  With Campbell running TrackMan on their scoreboard, the best fastball on the day was from a right hander from Florence Darlington that touched 97 mph on the video board at Campbell.

Pitt Community College

Hunter Christopher (RHP/OF, FR) - 6 foot, 190-pound build with strength.  Put together a solid inning of work.  Fastball ranged from 86-88 mph, sitting mostly at 87 mph.  Simple delivery with his knee working up to his chest.  In line to the plate with a long arm action, throwing from an over the top slot.  Gets down angle on his fastball.  Located his fastball to his arm side.  Bails to the first base side at times, causing some misses up and into right hand hitters.  Showed a breaking ball with 12/6 action at 74-75 mph.  Worked in the zone throughout his outing.

Noah Jones (RHP, SO) - Average build at 6 foot, 180-pounds.  Filled the zone up with 3 pitches during his outing.  Showed feel for a solid changeup and curveball.
