Providence Day 0            Charlotte Christian 7

Game Recap:
Providence Day traveled literally a few hundred yards to face their neighbor and rival Charlotte Christian in the first of a 2 game series schedule for this week. It was both teams opener in the NCISAA Charlotte Conference.

The game was blown open in the 2nd inning when Christian scored 6 runs on 4 hits. Freshman right fielder Calvert Clark opened the inning with a double down the left field line. Clark would score on a 1 out single from pitcher Brett Adams. Shane Russell followed with a double to right center field, scoring Adams. The inning was aided by two errors by a usually steady Providence Day infield. Christian also worked three two out walks to keep the inning going.

In the 3rd, Providence Day starter, Owen Tappy looked to be settled back into the game when JB Awolowo struck with 2 outs, homering to left field, pushing the score to 7-0. Tappy would work 3.1 innings giving up 3 earned runs and striking out 5.

For Christian, Adams was in control throughout the night. The Junior lefty threw 5 strong innings, giving up just 3 hits and punching 8. Adams opened by retiring the first 8 hitters faced, and 14 of the first 16 to step in the box.

These two are scheduled to play again on Friday at Providence Day, at 4:30pm.
