Scouting Report

03/30/18- LSU recruit. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds with a solid, strong frame. Aggressive hitter who shows above average bat speed with a feel for the barrel, looking to drive the ball into the gaps. Loose, strong hands. Late in the game he took one other way for a line drive double down the right field line. Torres has also shown plus actions behind the plate.

03/29/18- LSU recruit. The catcher has a lot of tools. Defensively he moves very well and showed his plus arm on back picks and stolen bases. Aggressive right handed swing with above average bat speed. Was 1-3 and showed a lot of loud tools.

09/30/17- LSU recruit . The 5-foot-10, 185 pound catcher has a thick lower half and a lot of present tools. Defensively, he has a high motor and a lot of quick twitch actions. He can get sped up at times, but his hands work well and quick feet with a strong arm, topping out at 81 mph and a 1.94-1.96 pop time. As he continues to log innings behind the plate and slows the game down he will have a chance to be a plus defender. Offensively, the right handed hitter has above average to plus bat speed. He can come out of his strong lower half at times, but is extremely aggressive with present bat to ball skills and a very high upside with above average power potential.

03.03.17
Body has continued to get stronger and mature.  Sits quietly in the crouch, allowing the hand to work to receive.  At times, the target is late or not presented.  Directional feet and extremely quick exchange allow for premium pop times.  Arm carries, showing accuracy.  In game pop time of 2.08 cut down a would be runner.  At the plate, works from a tall stance, rolling the front knee inward to trigger the swing.  At times thin through the zone, but is showing increased strength with the bat.  Swing is geared toward RCF.  Lacked extension and aggressiveness in hitter counts, but worked to stay on plan consistently.

10.31.16
Flashed pop times ranging 1.96 - 2.14 in a workout setting.  Quick feet and exchanges lead to a strong arm that has above average carry.  Accuracy improves, and can be plus, when the body is not rushed.  Offensively, Torres is beginning to show strength in the body.  A vertical bat, with waggle, lead to some inconsistency with barrel awareness.  Aggressive and looks the part.

10.22.16

LSU commit, was impressive behind the dish for the Central Florida Gators.  Torres was routinely sub-2.0 between innings, and has advanced catch-and-throw skills and footwork.  He receives well with soft hands and a wide base, taking pride in his craft.
