Olympic - 2          Cox Mill - 3

PBR was at Cox Mill HS on Thursday to take in the Chargers hosting an undefeated, 7-0 Olympic HS club that is playing with some confidence.  Marty Gair would toe the rubber for Cox Mill, armed with the top fastball, by velocity, in the state.

Gair would get off to a quick start, attacking the zone and punching the first two hitters faced on 7 pitches.  In the bottom of the 1^st, the Chargers would get on the board, scoring on a wild pitch, giving Gair an early lead to work with.  Gair recorded the leadoff out in each of the first 4 innings pitched, controlling his pitch count, while only facing a max of 4 hitters in any one inning through the 4^th. 

Cox Mill would increase its lead in the 3^rd with a solo HR from Tyler Zedalis.  Zedalis ambushed a fastball lifting it over the left field fence.

Olympic would create some stress in the 5^th, getting a leadoff hitter on via a HBP, and moving him up with a SAC bunt.  With two outs, Isaiah Street singled to short, scoring Elijah Booker and cutting the Cox Mill lead in half. 

Cox Mill would score an unearned run in the 5^th to move to a 3-1 lead.  Connor Welker got a 1 out infield single.  An errant pick off attempt moved Welker to 3B, where he scored on a SAC fly from Michael Maroney.

Gair would look to complete his work in the 7^th, starting the inning off strong with two strikeouts.  He would walk the next two hitters, on competitive at-bats, giving Olympic some life.  The Trojans cut the lead when the first walk worked his way around the bases on a defensive indifference to 2B and two wild pitches.  Gair worked 6.2 innings, giving up 1 hit and striking out 12.

Zach Burgbacher relieved Gair with 2 outs and a runner on 1B.  A single from Jack Grayum moved the tying run into scoring position.  Alex Steckler then lined out hard to left field where Cale Oehler made a nice running grab to end the contest.
