Lake Norman-  2 Hough-  3 (8inn)

PBR of North Carolina was on hand at Hough High for a chili opening night matchup between Lake Norman and Hough. The Huskies begin the year ranked #9 in the NC Power 25. Hough starter Max White put up zeros in his 5 innings of work not allowing a hit and punching out 10. The Huskies offense was able to add a run in each the 2nd and 3rd innings against hard throwing Lake Norman pitcher Luke Schmolke taking advantage of walks, passed balls and errors.

With the game seemingly all but over Lake Norman got a one out single from Grayson Peel who would advance to second on a two out walk. Peel would then score on a Bryton Lawson single. The Wildcats would tie the game at 2 later in the inning on an infield error.

Hough would threaten in the bottom of the 7th but Lake Norman would cut down the winning run at the plate on a relay from the outfield. The Huskies would get their leadoff man on in the bottom of the 8th via walk and go on to win it  with pinch runner Jake Clayton scoring on an Aidan Evans fielder's choice to the shortstop. Hough will be back in action on saturday against TC Roberson.
