NC Insider: Evaluating the Early Signing Period - Part II

Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

The early signing period has come and gone.  Over 215 players in North Carolina have made a commitment to a school of their choice.  While some players may not sign in the early period, for numerous reasons, this week does provide the opportunity to dive into the commitments from across the state.

At the Division I level, all 16 in-state schools received commitments from North Carolina players.  UNC Wilmington led the way with 10 in-state commitments.  Appalachian State is right behind them at 9 commitments.  Duke and High Point dipped into their home state receiving one and two commitments respectively.

To dive into the signing period and get a glimpse at each school’s future, we will be looking at each school individually and briefly breaking down their 2018 class.  The schools may have more commitments in their class than listed, as each listing will only highlights the North Carolina commitments that are present in the PBR commitment database.  The player rankings and average rank per player in the class comes from the recently updated North Carolina Class of 2018 Rankings

Today we profile Duke, East Carolina, Gardner Webb, and High Point.  Each school has a reason to be excited with the crop of North Carolina recruits they expect to be on campus next fall.  Each player listed is linked back to their player profiles so fans can see scouting reports, past news stories, and video collected by PBR's staff.  In the coming days, we will continue to look at each in-state Division I school and highlight other schools in the state making a splash with their 2018 commitments.
