NC: Pirates Secure Key Win in Power 25 Top 10 Matchup

PBR was at Garner on Thursday night for the back end of a 2 game conference series with Corinth Holders and Garner Magnet.  Garner won the matchup earlier in the week, 3-2 at Corinth Holders.  Entering the game, Corinth Holders led Fuquay-Varina by 1 game, and Garner by 2.5 games in the Greater Neuse River 4A standings.

The Pirates jumped on the board in the top of the first with the first two batters of the game scoring.  Jett Music’s double in the first was the key to the inning.  From there, Briggs McKenzie went to work.  The FR LHP kept Garner off balance for six shutout innings, striking out nine.  

Garner’s Jaxon Lucas would take the loss, working 5 innings and striking out 9 for the Trojans. 

Corinth will play a two game series with Fuquay-Varina next week, to determine the conference champion.  Corinth will enter the series 17-3 overall, and 11-1 in conference.  Garner falls to 14-6, 8-4 in conference.  The Trojans will finish their regular season with a two game series vs. Southeast Raleigh.
