Walk-Off Grand Slam Captures Conference Title

On Friday night, Bandys HS visited North Lincoln HS with a regular season conference championship on the line.  Each team entered 10-2 in the South Fork 2A Conference. With the game tied in the bottom of the 7th, 2-2, North Lincoln Senior Catcher Tyler McPeak sent an elevated Fastball over the wall in center field.  The bases loaded bolt gave North Lincoln the win and Conference Championship.

North took an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd, loading the bases with a hit-by-pitch and two walks.  With two outs, a hard ground ball to second, off the bat of Brady Heavner, plated Jake Soorus and Matty Jorgensen.

Bandys would answer in the top of the 6th, plating a run on a SAC Fly from TJ Rasar.  With two outs, Elijah Carr would single to center scoring Mac Beam from 2nd, and tying the score.

Both teams leaned on their starting pitching.  North Lincoln Senior Ty Lilly worked 6.2 innings, striking out 8.  He would leave with the bases loaded, handing the ball to Sophomore Jake Soorus who induced a fly ball to center to end the threat.  Bandy’s starter, Senior TJ Rasar matched Lilly for much of the game, working 6 innings without allowing a hit.

Senior Elijah Carr relieved Rasar in the 7th.  North Lincoln’s B Taylor opened the inning with single to right.  Heavner would sacrifice Taylor over to 2B. After two walks, the bases were loaded setting the stage for the heroics of McPeak.
