Wednesday July 22nd saw PBR on site at JP Riddle Stadium to host a Scout Day with Arsenal Baseball.  The organization had close to 50 players in attendance, ranging from 2021 - 2024 graduates.

A PBR Scout Day consists of a full pro-style workout for position players with pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen.  The position players run a laser timed 60 followed by a full offensive workout and defensive workout.  The pitchers controlled bullpen has arms throwing each of their pitches with TrackMan and a radar gun tracking velocity, spin rate, and other metrics.

Alex Blackmon C / Fuquay-Varina , NC / 2023 Positional Profile: C. Body: 5/9, 153 pounds. Average build, room to add strength. Defense:  Feet gain ground to target, transfers across chest, has hip mobility, feel to block, average hands. Arm: R. C - 69 mph.  Short arm action, over the top slot, some accuracy. Hit: R. Balanced, slightly open, hands above back shoulder. Leg kick, average stride, hands load back. Some lift to the barrel path, gets extension out front, barreled several balls using the whole field. Power: 77 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Average bat speed, numbers should improve with added strength.

 

 

Eli Uhland C / 1B / Wake Forest , NC / 2021 Positional Profile: C/1B. Body: 6/1, 270 pounds. Large frame, strength present. Defense:  Fluid feet, clean transfers across the chest, glove receives from below the ball, hands have strength. Arm: R. C - 79 mph.  Accurate with carry, short arm action, over the top slot. Hit: R. Relaxed, open base, hands at back shoulder. Short stride, small hand load back, quiet barrel. Quick hands, compact swing, lift to the barrel path, gets extenion out front, has barrel feel working to his pull side. Power: 99 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Made lots of hard contact, left the yard several times in BP, above average bat speed.

 

 

Tyler Cass C / 2B / Northern Guilford , NC / 2021   Positional Profile: C/2B. Body: 5/10, 150 pounds. Thin frame, room to add strength. Defense:  Fluid feet, transfers across the chest, low target receiving, will slide to block, average hands. Arm: R. C - 71 mph.  Accurate, short arm action, high 3/4 slot. Hit: L. Open base, weight over back leg with knee bend, barrel flat over back shoulder. Stays inside the ball, uphill barrel path, lined balls to the left center gap. Power: 81 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Average bat speed, numbers should improve with added strength. Run:7.29 runner in the 60.

 

 

Anthony Hausner C / 3B / Wake County Homeschool, NC / 2021 Positional Profile: C/3B. Body: 6/3, 235 pounds. Large frame, strength present. Defense:  IF-Plays relaxed, catches the ball in the center of his body, hands have softness, clean exchanges. C-Fluid feet, quick exchanges across the midsection, hands have strength receiving. Arm: R. C - 73 mph. INF - 81 mph. Accurate with carry, feel for using different arm angles. C-Accurate, short arm action, high 3/4 slot. Hit: L. Open base, sits in legs, hands above back shoulder. Short stride in to the plate, small hand load back. Hands are quick, lift to the barrel path, strength to both gaps, above average barrel awareness. Power: 92 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Has pop, above average bat speed.

 

 

Josh Jordan OF / Wesleyan Christian, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 147 / POS: 21   Positional Profile: OF. Body: 5/10, 180 pounds. Strong, athletic build. Defense:  Plays through the ball, catches the ball off his left foot using a two hand catch at times, clean transfers with momentum into his throws. Arm: R.  OF - 84 mph. Carry to his throws with some feel for accuracy, long arm action, over the top slot. Hit: R. Slightly open, sits in legs, hands above back shoulder. Short stride, small hand load. Direct barrel path, mostly level through the zone, gets extension out front, works through the middle and to his pull side. Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Average bat speed, some strength off the barrel. Run:7.41 runner in the 60.

 

 

Tanner Hunley OF / RHP / Middle Creek , NC / 2021   Positional Profile: OF/RHP. Body: 6/2, 160 pounds. Athletic frame. Defense:  Athletic through the ball, relaxed hands, catches the ball off his left foot, clean exchanges. Arm: R.  OF - 86 mph. Accurate with carry, medium arm stroke, high 3/4 slot. Hit: R. Athletic base, slightly open, barrel on back shoulder. Smooth load, short stride back to even, hands load slightly back. Barrel is short to the ball, stays through the zone, quick hands, consistent barrels to both gaps. Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Above average bat speed. Run:7.3 runner in the 60.

 

 

Cameron Richey OF / RHP / Southern Lee, NC / 2024   Positional Profile: OF/RHP. Body: 6/1, 157 pounds. Lanky frame, room for growth ahead. Hit: R. Tall, open base, barrel flat above back shoulder. Smooth load, short stride back to even, hands get back. Loose hands with quickness, level barrel path, lined balls middle and to his pull side. Power: 79 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Above average bat speed, made hard contact during BP. Run:7.18 runner in the 60.
