Player Notes: East Coast Pro Showcase Tryout

Brandon Hall and Nathan Rode
North Carolina Director of Scouting & National Scouting Supervisor

The East Coast Professional Baseball Showcase is a premier showcase run by area MLB Scouts each August.  Teams are selected by area scouts from regions, meeting in early August to go through a full workout and play other “scout teams” from up and down the east coast.

Area Scouts are following player development during the spring and summer as they begin to put together the team that will represent NC, SC, and VA.  As part of the identification process, area scouts will run an invite only tryout, this year at the USA Baseball National Training Center on June 11th.

PBR was on hand and National Scouting Supervisor Nathan Rode was getting his first or second look at several of these prospects.  Rode files a lot the PBR Draft reports and organizes prospect information for the Draft HQ.  Like many area scouts he begins to turn his attention to the rising senior class after each draft, having spent most of his time on the draft class.  Below is a look at some notes he is filing on several draft follows from North Carolina.  These notes may not be as complete as those filed by North Carolina PBR scouts, or as complete as they will be as the 2020 MLB Draft approaches, but it gives you a feel for what a first, or second, impression for some high end players may look like.
