SCOUT BLOG
Jonathon Winters, RHP, CB Aycock HS, 2025
Small in stature, thin right-hander that has some room to grow. Fastball has some late life at times. Worked down in the zone. Fastball ranged 77-80. As the game went on, the ball began to flatten out and elevate allowing the South Johnston hitters to make better contact. Sharp breaking ball with 11/5 tilt at 65-66. Similar arm speed to the fastball. Choppy delivery with solid direction. Long, loose arm swing to a ¾ slot. Landed slightly open to his line with the foot. Finished in athletic position.

Cameron Aycock, INF/OF, CB Aycock HS, 2024
ECU Commit. Athletic in an average frame. Stands 5-foot-9, 170 pounds. On the infield at 3B, plays with quick, fluid foot work. Worked through the ball creating momentum through the exchange and release. Average arm that plays up as he works through the ball. Very accurate with average carry. Athletic with an ability to throw off platform with accuracy from multiple angles. At the plate, Cameron had 1 of CB Aycock's 3 hits and the only RBIs they got of the game. Good approach and showed the ability to see spin. Slightly open from the right side. Smooth load back. Short stroke. Strong hands. Ball jumps off the barrel.
Logan Wise, RHP, South Johnston HS, 2025
Tall, lanky pitcher that has length and plenty of room to project. Fastball worked down zone with some sink at 76-78. Showed solid feel for the zone. Sluvey breaking ball with 10/4 tilt at 64-66. Sweeping action out of the hand working from a similar window as the fastball. Change-up at 74 is a 3rd pitch at this time. Side-saddle setup over the rubber on the 1B side. Some tilt through the shoulders as the front side tends to leave the arm early. High-¾ slot. Athletic, showed an ability to field his position.
Dawson Anderson, Catcher, South Johnston HS, 2024
Strength present in a physical stature. Uses his strong lower half behind the dish and at the plate. Average flex in the hips. Pop times at 2.07 and 2.09 between innings. Short arm action and has loose release. Solid carry and accuracy. Right handed hitter has power potential. Open stance, with width between the feet. Smooth load back as he uses a leg kick to get back to a neutral position. Explosive lower half. Solid balance. Quick bat. Aggressive demeanor.
