Quick Hitters: American Dream Pitchers

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

On Sunday November 20th PBR of North Carolina was on hand at Fuquay Varina High School for a Scout Day with American Dream Baseball. The Scout Day featured players from the 2024-2028 grad classes.

The day began with catchers going through a defensive evaluation followed by pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting ball flight analytics. After the pitchers, position players ran a laser timed 10 yd and 60 yd sprint. After running players took batting practice on the field with Trackman gathering ball flight data. The day concluded with outfielders and infielders going through a defensive workout.

Below we begin our breakdown of the players in attendance. Look for more information to follow in the coming days.

Quick Hitters - Pitchers

Ashton Davis, RHP, West Bladen HS, 2027
Young frame with some strength present. Stands 5-foot-9, 150 pounds. Simple delivery with a long arm swing, a slight plunge out of the glove, working to an over-the-top slot.  Solid arm speed for the age. Strike thrower. Presented feel for 3 pitches, impressively. Fastball up to 69. Early run with length. Breaking ball is still maturing but uses a big, 10/4 arc at 56-60, 1647rpm.

Noah Genna, RHP, Apex Friendship HS, 2025
Thin with athleticism present at 5-foot-11, 145 pounds. Arm plunges out of the glove, working with some effort as the elbow climbs above the shoulder line prior to the cocking phase.  Over-the-top release with average to above arm speed.  Fastball at 75-78, 1790rpm. Aggressive with the fastball, working downhill with solid angle through the zone.  Slider and change-up add depth to the arsenal.  Slider at 71-73, 1841 with gradual 10/4 tilt.  Good arm speed on the change-up.

Peter Hoffman, RHP, Cardinal Gibbons HS, 2026
High waisted, thin frame at 5-foot-11, 140 pounds.  Lots of growth still to come. Long arm swing works to an over-the-top slot.  Some cross-fire in the delivery. Fastball at 74-76, 1914rpm, playing true out of the hand. Breaking ball has a chance to be a weapon at 62-63, 2224rpm, spinning up to 2340rpm in the bullpen.  Early, rolling action should tighten with maturity.

Gavin Jackson, RHP, Cleveland HS, 2026
6-foot-3, 195 pounds with length in the limbs. Long arm swing to an over-the-top slot. Fights through some stiffness. Arm strength over arm speed at this time. Fastball up to 74, 1619rpm.

Andrew Mohler, RHP, Cary HS, 2026
Lanky 6-foot, 160 pounder. Long arm swing works to a high-¾ slot.  Whippy arm speed through the release with average arm speed present at this time. Lands on-line with an open toe at foot-strike. Fastball at 70-72, 2023 rpm. Early run with 1:45 spin tilt at release. Sweeping action on the breaking ball with some length at 60-63, 2108rpm.

Gabe Schellinger, LHP, Clayton HS, 2026
Thin frame at 5-foot-7, 124 pounds. Medium arm swing using a slight pelvic tilt out of the balance as he works to an over-the-top slot.  Lands on the 3B side of his line with a square toe.  Breaking ball showed tight, sharp action, spinning up to 1926rpm. Should be a pitch to follow as he adds strength and his velocity ticks up.

William Stanley, RHP, Fuquay-Varina HS, 2027
Easy projection with an athletic and thin 5-foot-8, 137 pounds. Fastball up to 73, 1789rpm with solid ride through the zone. Breaking ball is still working to a consistent arc and tilt, but spun up to 2097rpm with heavy sweep out of the hand at times. Long, athletic arm action to a high-¾ slot.  Good arm speed for the age.

Kason Brown, RHP, Triton HS, 2026
Broad shoulder and youthful look at 6-foot, 185 pounds. Strength present. Long, loose arm swing to a high-¾ slot. Solid arm speed. Fastball up to 76, 1926rpm. Solid feel for breaking ball and change-up to compliment the fastball.
