Quick Hitters: Fungo CADET Scout Day - Pitchers

Brandon Hall
Executive Director of Scouting, PBR NC

PBR was at Heritage High School on Saturday November 14th to host a scout day for the Fungo CADET program.  Nineteen players were involved, running through a full pro-style workout.

Due to heavy rain throughout the week, the laser timed sixty was run on a nearby soccer field.  The grass surface was cut low, and while a little damp, played true.  Defensive workouts followed the sixties.  Catchers threw at the soccer facility with the full distance to 2B measured out, as well as the catching box measured to ensure accurate times.  Outfielders worked from the soccer field, simulating throws to the plate from 250' away, allowing scouts to gage carry and accuracy.  Infielders were able to workout from the shortstop area. The defensive workout was followed by the offensive evaluation.  TrackMan was used in the live BP to track ball flight.

After the pro-style workout, pitchers threw controlled bullpens.  TrackMan was used again to track ball flight out of the hand, giving feed back with advanced analytics as well as standard velocity readings.
