Road to LakePoint: Previewing Team NC and Team Carolina for the Future Games
The most anticipated week on the amateur baseball calendar is nearly here. From July 21–26, the nation’s premier uncommitted talent will converge on the state-of-the-art complexes at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, Georgia, for the annual Prep Baseball Future Games and Senior Future Games.
With over 450 college coaches and scouts expected to line the backstops, the stage is set for a defining moment in these young athletes' recruiting journeys. Every single player in attendance shares two things in common: they are entirely uncommitted, and they represent the absolute elite of their respective classes.
This year, the Old North State is sending a powerhouse contingent down south. For the Future Games (2028 grads), Team NC will take the field looking to showcase the depth of homegrown talent. For the Senior Future Games (2027 grads), North Carolina will join forces with our neighbors to the south to form a loaded Team Carolina roster.
Both squads will jump straight into the fire, starting with a grueling pro-style workout to flash their tools, followed by a highly competitive three-game guarantee against the best uncommitted rosters in the country.
To get you ready for the action, we are breaking down our rosters by primary position groups over the coming days. From explosive arms on the mound to dynamic bats and elite defenders, here is your comprehensive preview of the North Carolina prospects set to turn heads at LakePoint.
Future Games Preview: Elite Lefties on the Mound
A dominant left-handed pitcher is one of the most coveted assets in college baseball. As we continue our positional previews for the Prep Baseball Future Games (July 21-25) at LakePoint Sports, we turn to the southpaws representing Team NC and Team Carolina.
This uncommitted group of lefties features advanced pitchability, deceptive arm angles, and the ability to spin breaking balls that tie up hitters on both sides of the plate. Here is a look at the left-handed arms ready to carve up lineups on the national stage.
Team NC (Future Games - 2028 Grads)
- High School: Davidson Day School
- Scouting Report: Rodesiler brings an ultra-competitive presence to the mound. He features a fluid, athletic delivery and creates a tough angle for hitters from the left side. The fastball jumps out of the hand, and he pairs it with a sweeping breaking ball that acts as a true out-pitch against left-handed batters. He is a high-upside arm who brings arm speed, arm strength, and high-end athleticism.
- High School: Forest Hills Eastern HS (MI)
- Scouting Report: A North Carolina arm is heading out of state as the next school year begins. One of his last stands repping NC will be at the Future Games. At 6-foot-10, Small creates a unique angle with good presence and feel over the rubber. When the big frame is in sync, the fastball has jumped out of the hand. While his present stuff is advanced, there is a lot to dream on as he continues to grow into the long stature.
- High School: Cox Mill HS
- Scouting Report: Standing with a projectable frame, McCarter utilizes long levers to generate late run and sink on an electric fastball. There is plenty of reason to dream on the future as McCarter shows excellent rhythm over the rubber in a frame that will continue to pack on strength and weight with some ease. Paired with the fastball is a sweeping slider that is a potential out pitch in the very near future.
- High School: Davidson Day School
- Scouting Report: Another good athlete that will toe the rubber for NC, Broadway has current stuff with excellent projection. Strength and arm speed are present. Broadway has shown an ability to miss bats in the zone with three pitches. A big arm, Broadway will be a high profile arm to follow throughout the fall and into the spring.
Team Carolina (Sr. Future Games - 2027 Grads)
- High School: Pro5 Baseball Academy
- Scouting Report: Caracio is a premium left-handed talent who pitches with polish and intent. He sits in the upper-80s, touching higher, with natural arm-side life that induces heavy ground-ball rates. His slider is a wipeout pitch with sharp horizontal break, and he brings a bulldog mentality that shines in high-leverage situations.
- High School: Ambassador Christian
- Scouting Report: Taplin brings an imposing frame and intriguing stuff from the left side. His fastball plays with heavy life, and he complements it with a hard, late-breaking slider that generates empty swings. He attacks the zone aggressively and uses his size to create exceptional angle, making him a very difficult at-bat.
- High School: Reagan HS
- Scouting Report: Rice is a surgical lefty who excels at painting the corners and exploiting hitters' weaknesses. He features a true three-pitch mix, highlighted by a sharp curveball that he uses effectively to steal early strikes or bury for strikeouts. His advanced sequencing and pitch command make him one of the most reliable arms in the class.
