The PBR Future Games is the top underclass showcase event in the country each year. PBR territories from across the country work to put together teams of the top uncommitted, underclass players to compete each year. Team Carolina is made of players from North Carolina and South Carolina.
On June 23 and 24, PBR of North Caroline ran invite only events to continue to identify players for Team Carolina. Players attending the Future Game Trials were able to go through a full pro-style workout, running a laser timed 60, working through an offensive evaluation, and a defensive evaluation. Pitchers threw controlled bullpens for PBR Scouts. Each day was live streamed with over 60 colleges and university programs watching one, or both days of workouts through the PBR of NC channel on Watch Your Game's live streaming feed.
We begin to dive into all of the information gathered at the Future Game Trials by taking a look at some of the metrics and stats collected on the day. As we continue to take a further look into each player, we will unveil metrics from Blast and TrackMan, giving coaches and scouts a better feel for each player's ability on the field.

THE 60 YARD DASH
Players ran a laser timed 60 yard dash at the outset of most of their workouts. At each workout, the 60 was run on a natural surface. 35 players ran at FG I with another 21 running at FG II. The top run time from either event was a 6.90 by Korbin Pettigrew (SS, Hoggard HS, 2022). The median run time at FG I was a 7.47. The median run time at the FG II was 7.61.

The same 35 players in Charlotte and 21 players at Louisburg that ran the 60, also went through offensive testing, including a static exit velocity test, working off a tee. The top exit velocity from the two days was from Jake McGillivray (OF, Porter Ridge HS, 2022) touching 98 mph off the tee. The median from FG I was 89mph with the median from FG II reaching 84 mph.

POSITIONAL VELOCITY – INFIELDERS
Infielders were able to workout at shorstop, throwing across the infield, or from 1B throwing to 2B and 3B in the pro-style workout. Coaches are working to evaluate rhythm, footwork, hands, exchanges, arm action, accuracy, and carry. To measure arm strength PBR Scouts utilize a radar gun. Below are the top posted positional velocities from each day.

POSITIONAL VELOCITY – OUTFIELDERS
Outfielders worked out from right field, making throws to the plate. Scouts are able to watch exchanges, arm action, arm strength, carry, and accuracy in this type of workout. PBR adds a radar reading to assist with adding a number to the arm strength grade. Below are the top radar readings from the outfielder workouts.

CATCHER POP TIMES & POSITIONAL VELOCITY
In the pro-style workout, catchers workout from behind home plate, making multiple throws to 2B, simulating a stolen base attempt. Scouts again are looking for a quick, clean transition to the release as well as carry and accuracy on the throw. For catchers, evaluators will put a stopwatch on the “pop time” or the time the ball hits their glove to the time the ball hits the MIF’s glove at 2B. Coaches can also time the transition from when the ball hits the catchers glove to when he is able to release his throw. PBR scouts add the radar gun to put a number on the arm strength out of the crouched position.

MAX FASTBALL
Pitchers threw a controlled bullpen for scouts at each Future Games Trials. TrackMan was used to track and verify all velocity readings. A Stalker Pro SII was also used to flash velocities to an LED board for the player videos, and so the pitcher had some feel for his performance.
