Name:
  Trevor Whitley
High School: North Lincoln
Summer/Fall Team: Dry Pond Blue Sox
Position: RHP
Grad Year: 2017
PBR Events: Triangle Prospect Open – Holly Springs, NC – 08.23.16

Scouting Notes:
Converted to a pitcher, from a catcher, just a little over a year ago, this 6-foot-3, 215 pound righty shows potential in a strong frame.  The fastball seemed heavy and touched 86 from an over-the-top slot and long arm swing.  There is some effort and intent in the delivery, that coiled the lower half, and at times was rushed.  The curveball had late 10/4 action, with similar hand speed to the fastball.  The change up was a distant 3rd pitch, cutting and sinking, pitch to pitch in the 72-74 range.

Interview with PBR:

PBR:  What factors lead to your commitment to Presbyterian?

TW:  From my initial visit to PC, I could tell it was the right place for me. Everyone I was lucky enough to meet were extremely friendly. My overnight visit sealed the deal. Being privileged to be around such a great group of guys and to see such a drive to get better was something that really stood out to me.

PBR:  Academically, is there a particular interest or desired major, at this time?

TW:  As of right now, I interested in a career in wildlife management or a bio-chemistry major.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?

TW:  The three schools that had shown the most interest in me were Wingate, NCCU, and PC. All three of which made very very generous offers.

PBR:  Where there any coaches on the recruiting trail that you built a relationship with?

TW:  Yes. All three of the Coaches from Presbyterian were very personable and considerate. In particular, Coach Mark Crocco and myself were able to build a personal relationship.

PBR:  Where did the coaches at Presbyterian see you?

TW:  The first time I was in contact with Presbyterian came after my summer team played the Mooresville Spinners (a team in the Carolina/Virginia summer collegiate league).  I threw two strong innings of scoreless baseball.

PBR:  What are your goals for this upcoming fall and spring?

TW:  My number one goal for this upcoming year is to better myself, and put in the hours in the weight room and on the field to get myself as ready as possible for a D1 level program.

PBR:  Who are some of the coaches, or people, that have helped develop you on the baseball field?

TW:  Coach Phillip Loftin, Coach Drew Belk, Coach John Carpenter, as well as my parents, family, and all my team mates

PBR:  Any advice for the players in the 2018 & 2019 classes that are beginning their process?

TW:  The only advice I can give is to play every game like its your last. Give 110% all the time. You never know who might be watching.
