NC: Top Ten Matchup: Wake Forest at Garner

PBR was at Garner Magnet HS on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup of two top 10 PBR Power 25 teams.  

Garner controlled most of the game, jumping out to a 4-1 lead with a 3 run 4th.  The Trojans plan to use their staff to filter the game worked until the 6th inning where the third pitcher of the night, Lane Herndon ran into some issues.  

Wake Forest plated 5 runs in the 6th getting the inning started with a 1 out single from K Brazeau.  After a walk, C Allen doubled home two, and scored on a throwing error on the play.  With the game tied, back to back doubles from C Wilson and B Benoit were followed by an RBI single from Ivan Perez, giving Wake Forest a 6-4 lead.

The Cougars would tack on two insurance runs in the 7th to get to the final, 8-5.  Wake Forest moves to 9-2 and will play at Wakefield on Friday.  Garner drops to 7-2.  The Trojans will finish a 2 game series, this week, with South Garner on Friday.
