The Athens Drive Jaguars made the short trip across town to take on the Corinth Holders Pirates in a first round match up of the NCHSAA 4A Tournament. The Jags came out hot plating 2 runs in the top of the first inning.  Corinth quickly turned to its bullpen and 2026 Brayden Driver took over in relief.  Driver was able to get the game back under control.  

Corinth knotted the score in the 4th on a RBI single by Alex Houseman. The Pirates scored 3 more runs in the 5th, before the flood gates opened up in the 6th when Briggs McKenzie rocketed a bases loaded line drive to center, capping off a 5 run inning.

2024 RHP, and Campbell commit Jett Music, entered in the 3rd, eventually working 5 innings of no hit baseball.  Music would strike out 6 and only surrender 2 runs.

Jack Snipes took the loss for Athens Drive, allowing 5 runs over 4 innings. Athens finishes their 2024 campaign 15-12 on the season. Corinth will move on and host Hoggard HS Friday night in the second round of the state tournament..
